The former Rockstar producer, who worked on Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption, admits he “can only imagine” how big GTA 6 will be.
As anyone who's happily fed GTA 5 or Red Dead Redemption 2 over the past two console generations will know, Rockstar's releases usually make up for their long development with plenty of great games to see and do. In fact, Rockstar's most recent releases still feature both to this day.
Considering how long GTA 6 has been in development now, it's left everyone wondering just how big it's actually going to be. It turns out that it's not just GTA fans who want to know the answer, though, as a former Rockstar Games developer also suggested that the studio has no idea what's cooking.
Former Rockstar producer “can only imagine” how big GTA 6 will be
Considering they worked on GTA 5, that says a lot
As pointed out by GamesRadar+ , former Rockstar producer John Riccio, who worked on games like GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption, and Max Payne, recently chatted with YouTuber KiwiTalkz about his time with the studio. At one point, Riccio was asked if he wanted to be a part of GTA 6's launch considering all the hype surrounding it.
In response, Riccio pointed out that every time Rockstar makes a new GTA, it's “ridiculously bigger than the previous one”. The former producer said that he could “only imagine” how big GTA 6 was going to be, and that it would be a “monster” if it wasn't likely to be so elaborate. From what we've seen so far, he's almost certainly right.
Ricchio says that there has been “expectation” for Rockstar's releases with each game being bigger than the last, with GTA 5 eclipsing both GTA 4 and the original Red Dead Redemption. While the growing scope of each game adds “extra wrinkles” for those who work on it, Riccio thinks the work speaks for itself and makes you feel like “you belong.”
With all that in mind, Riccio says he's happy overall no Development is “really hard” to work on GTA 6. Still, the former dev thinks the excitement surrounding Rockstar games is “magical” and “so rewarding.” I guess we'll soon see for ourselves if GTA 6 lives up to all that hype.
