Earlier this year, Warhorse Studios confirmed that a sequel to Kingdom Come Deliverance is in development, with a target launch of April 2028 at the earliest. However, it may not be a 'Deliverance' sequel, per se.
As reported by The Phrasemaker , a new trademark has been filed with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) for Kingdom Come Salvation titled “Computer Gaming Software.” And while the owner remains anonymous, the same font style and Prague attorney address all but confirm that it belongs to Warhorse.
The rest of the trademark is boilerplate for Triple-A games, but it mentions “entertainment services for matching users,” which could be on multiplayer cards. This is not definitive proof and should be taken with a grain of salt, but it is an interesting detail.
While the trademark doesn't offer much else in the way of information, the new title indicates that Warhorse is shifting away from numerical sequels to a more accessible franchise model. After all, jumping into a series with a subtitled sequel like Salvation is more palatable than a third entry in a trilogy.
We can only guess what the title might mean. Redemption was intrinsically tied to Henry's personal arc—his quest to bring justice to those who murdered his family in the attack on Schalitz—which he completed in the second game. Salvation could be signaling a new chapter in Henry's life, or a new hero for the series entirely.
Is the kingdom going to a liberation war? What the title might mean
The word 'salvation' carried a lot of weight in 15th-century Bohemia, as the region became the focus of the Hussite Wars, a bloody religious conflict where opposing factions fought over the true nature of spiritual salvation. The main debate centered on how the faithful received salvation, since centuries ago the Catholic Church strictly prohibited the sacramental wine (the blood of Christ) to the clergy, while the common people only received the bread (meat).
This was challenged in 1414 by Jacob of Mies, professor of philosophy at the University of Prague, who pointed to the Gospel of John, which said, “Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life in you.” He argued that both were necessary for salvation, and that the church was damning millions when it refused. And thus two camps were formed: the Catholic doctrine of offering bread only to ordinary people, and the Hussite Utraquism of offering bread. and Alcohol to all.
Five years later, in 1419, the Hussite Wars began when the Czech theologian and philosopher Jan Hus was burned at the stake for heresy. Sigismund planned to be crowned Holy Roman Emperor, which required a papal coronation, and so he suppressed the growing sect of the Hussites—eventually receiving permission from the Pope to launch a crusade against them. The story of Kingdom Come Salvation could easily pivot to Henry or a newcomer caught in the crossfire of this holy war.
