Control Resonant lets players officially adopt a pet dog because even in a world full of paranormal chaos, Dylan deserves a good boy. Getting your new furry companion requires tracking down all seven dogs hidden across different regions and returning their lost toys. While you’ll stumble across a few during casual exploration and main story missions, others are tucked away in surprisingly sneaky spots. This guide details every dog location in Control Resonant so you can wrap up the “Every Dog Has Her Day” side story, pop the “Dog’s Best Friend” trophy, and secure the ultimate reward: a pet you can actually keep.
There are three best tips that I can share based on my personal experience with finding out the locations of the Mysterious Dog and her toys in Control Resonant.
Number One: Whenever you get close to the dog’s location, you’ll hear her whimper, which will further help you close in on her location.
Number Two: The dog toy will always be a teal-colored dinosaur, and it’ll always be found under some sort of Chowtrap’s advertisement (with pictures of pets on it).
Number Three: While you can’t use the Reach ability to zip to the top of buildings while carrying the dog’s toy, you’ll still be able to vault over ledges and use the Shift ability just fine. So, you’ll almost always need to find an alternative route back to the dog, which will involve using Elevate, Shift, air dashing, climbing, or sometimes a combination of all.
Downtown Dog & Toy Location in Control Resonant
Dog Location
The Mysterious Dog in the Downtown zone is the one most players will come across the first time. She’s sitting on top of a building, at the north end of the street heading down from the Oldest House building.
Dog’s Toy Location
Finding the toy for the dog in Control Resonant Downtown zone is easy. While facing the dog, look to the left, and you’ll spot a building with the Chowtrap advertisement board.
Use your Elevate ability to hover over to that building and pick up a dinosaur toy. Now, use the building adjacent to the dog to climb up to the top and put the toy into the dog’s bed. Doing so will add “Every Dog Has Her Day” to your quest log. Don’t forget to pet the Dog after retrieving its toy for extra happy points.
Central Dog & Toy Location in Control Resonant
Dog Location
In the Central zone, players can find the Mysterious Dog sitting on top of a building next to the East Park Station. If you’ve already completed the lengthy Power Lines quest in Control Resonant, you’ll be familiar with the area.
Dog’s Toy Location
Finding the toy for the dog in Central is easy, but retrieving it can be a bit challenging compared to the previous one. Look directly opposite the dog, and you’ll find the dog’s toy inside the alley below with lasers and Hiss enemies.
Use Elevate to hover over the laser and enemies below, then land near the dinosaur toy. Pick it up, then quickly climb the nearby ledges to reach higher ground. Now, you’ll be able to get the toy safely back to the Central zone dog in Control Resonant. Remember to pet the little doggo after helping her out.
Evacuation Zone Dog & Toy Location in Control Resonant
If you haven’t done so yet, unlock the Shift ability moving forward, as you’ll need it to complete the rest of the dog side quests in Control Resonant (including this one).
Dog Location
The dog in the Evacuation Zone can be found to the north of the Sinkhole, at the end of the street connecting to the Survivalist’s Apartment (from the Urban Survival quest).
Once you reach the location mentioned above, zip to the top of the building using Reach, and then chain double-jump into Elevate and then Shift ability to align Dylan to the surface of the inverted building. You’ll be able to spot the dog just in front of you.
Dog’s Toy Location
Since you already have the Shift ability, getting the toy will be a piece of cake. While facing the dog, look to the left, and you’ll find the toy sitting on top of the building above.
To reach the toy, you’ll need to get on top of the structure right behind the dog and use the Elevate ability into Shift to align Dylan back onto the normal building’s rooftop. Now, grab the toy, repeat the aforementioned process, and you’ll be able to reunite the doggo with its toy. Don’t forget to pet the dog before leaving the area to signal the doggo you really care.
West Incursion Zone Dog & Toy Location in Control Resonant
Dog Location
The dog in the West Incursion Zone can be found in the northwest corner of the map, to the west of the Parking Garage. Yes, this is the same parking garage you might have already entered to complete “The Incursion Fault” side story and unlock the Shift ability.
As soon as you step under the large Parking Garage sign, you’ll be able to spot the dog on top of an inverted building across the street.
Dog’s Toy Location
The toy location for the West Incursion Dog in Control Resonant is actually quite close. You’ll find the toy sitting on top of two outdoor AC units directly west of the inverted building where the dog is sitting. Simply grab the toy and then use the Shift ability to align yourself with the building and put the toy in the dog’s bed.
The Park Dog & Toy Location in Control Resonant
Dog Location
The Mysterious Dog in The Park in Control Resonant can be found in the northeast corner of the zone, directly north of Underhill’s Apartment (a location you visit during the New Growth side story).
While the dog is easy to locate, finding her toy can be a bit tricky, as you’ll need to reach the top of a nearby building, which can only be done after activating the lift.
Dog’s Toy Location
To activate the lift that leads to the dog’s toy in The Park, you’ll need to follow my markings on the map above.
- First, head to the location I’ve marked with a star to clear out the area of mold enemies. There’s a small room on the rooftop with two empty batteries that will come in handy later.
- Now, head to the pillar with charged batteries across the street, and store an electric charge in Dylan’s Aberrant.
- Now, quickly head back to the room with empty batteries (marked with a star), and store the charge into one of the batteries.
- Next, take the charge back and head directly to the lift (marked with a flag). Hit the empty battery next to the lift controls to power it up.
- Now, press the button to call the lift down and ride it all the way up to the top of the building.
- Grab the dog’s toy, and use Elevate to safely land back beside the dog.
- Put the dog’s toy into her bed to finish up.
Underpass Dog & Toy Location in Control Resonant
Dog Location
The Mysterious Dog in the Underpass is located directly north of the Research Site, a location you may have already visited during the Recursions and Iterations main story mission. However, reaching the dog is a challenge in itself, let alone retrieving the toy for her. So, follow my instructions carefully to avoid getting lost (speaking from experience).
You’ll need to start off from the Research Site building in the Underpass. There’s a connecting structure right next to it with yellow tape markings that you’ll need to climb.
Once on top of the structure, you’ll need to use your Elevate ability to reach the red-carpet pathway and use Shift ability as soon as you touch it to align Dylan. Once you run across the path, use Shift ability again to reach the top of this structure. Here, you can walk across the grey structure and chain Elevate ability with Reach to get to the top of the nearby building and reach the dog.
The toy can be seen directly above the dog, on an inverted surface. So, you’ll need to find a way to the toy by inverting Dylan, and then reverting back to placing it inside the dog’s bed.
Dog’s Toy Location
Take the pathway northwest of the dog that goes around the building structure. Once you reach a point where Dylan can easily touch the floor directly on top of him, use Shift to align Dylan to it.
Now, move in the direction of the dog and take a right turn. Here, you’ll find yourself in the area where you spotted the toy. Grab it, and now you’ll need to find your way back to the dog.
Start by dropping into the hole next to the toy.
After dropping to the floor below, you’ll need to jump across to the next platform, and Dylan will automatically revert back to normal perspective. Now, all you need to do is drop down the hole again, and you’ll be able to place the toy inside the Mysterious Dog’s bed, getting one step closer to completing Every Dog Has Her Day side story in Control Resonant.
Unknown Zone Dog & Toy Location in Control Resonant
Dog Location
The dog in the Unknown zone can be found on the floating cityscape to the left of the Patterned Field Office. To reach this area, you’ll need to do a bit of platforming, starting from the area I’ve marked as “3” on the map above.
Once you arrive on the floating cityscape, head to the location I’ve marked above to find the dog sitting in a patio on top of one of the buildings.
Dog’s Toy Location
To find the toy for the Mysterious Dog in the Control Resonant Unknown zone, you’ll need to reach the top of the white building directly opposite the dog. You’ll be able to see the Bar’s sign on top, and that’s where the toy is sitting. To reach the top, start from the path I’ve indicated with the arrow, the one with the billboard.
Once you reach the end of the path, you’ll need to use the Shift ability to walk across the vertical rooftop of the building. Make sure to pick the building I’ve marked with arrows in the image above.
Keep heading across the rooftop and get on top of the elevated platform I’ve marked above.
From the platform, you’ll need to double-jump and use Elevate to reach the white building’s terrace area and immediately use Shift Ability to align Dylan to it.
Walk across the terrace, and you’ll be able to grab the dog’s toy in the Underpass. Now, you can take the express way down by simply jumping forward, down the building. Put the toy in the dog’s bed, and you should be done.
How to Complete Every Dog Has Her Day in Control Resonant (Dog’s Best Friend Trophy)
Once you’ve found and retrieved the toy for all seven Mysterious Dogs in Control Resonant, you’ll still need to do an additional step to finally unlock the dog as your pet.
It’s nothing major; just teleport into the Gap after finding a safe spot. Surprise! The Mysterious Dog can now be found in the Gap area, and interacting with her will complete the “Every Dog Has Her Day” side story and immediately unlock the “Dog’s Best Friend” trophy in Control Resonant. You’ll also receive an Untapped Trusted Spanner artifact that you’ll need to craft first before using.
While finally finding a furry friend for Dylan is rewarding enough, the Dog is much more and will show up in some key story places where you wouldn’t expect her.
Feel free to expand the section if you don’t care about a minor spoiler for the ending of Control Resonant.
If you complete “Every Dog Has Her Day” side story before finishing the game, the Mysterious Dog will actually appear in the ending cutscene before the Epilogue. The dog also starts living with Dylan in his apartment in the Epilogue after he officially becomes a contractor for the FBC.
