Dragon Age Origins: Every Friend, Ranked
Dragon Age: Origins has a great cast of characters. Let's look at friends and find out which one is the best.
That's where mods can save the day. Modding and RPGs go together like peanut butter and jelly, and Dragon Age: Origins is no stranger to it. There have been a number of mods that have been released over the decade and that have fleshed out the game, from gameplay overhauls to minor quality-of-life tweaks.

More hairstyles – kzelsama
This is a simple mod that does what it says on the tin. The character creator for Dragon Age: Origins, being a very old game, is limited in the options you have. This mode allows you to choose between several new hairstyles.
These aren't any wild anime-style hair choices that break the game's lore and immersion. This gives you more options to choose from when creating your personal warden. It also allows you to choose the male human hair that the Warden has in the trailers for the game, so you can playthrough as the Canon Warden.
Mabari Hound is the best boy. If you choose the humane best option for your character, he's not just the dog you left behind, he's the one yours Dog, which makes it even more difficult when you have to leave him in the camp in favor of other party members.
Well, with this mod, you don't have to. You'll still have the option of having the Hound take one of your party member slots if you want, but you'll also get the Hound's Whistle item. This will let you summon him or send him at will (as long as you're not in combat). This can help give you an edge in some tough encounters, while not feeling like you're cheating by adding a whole extra regular party member. Also, you can't leave him behind in the camp. He will be lonely.

Skip the Fade – hdhd
The Fade is one of the most infamous sections in RPG history, notorious for its exhaustion. For new players, this can be the dreaded reason to stop starting the game, and for veterans, it can be the reason you shy away from new playthroughs. That's why Skip the Fade mode is so great.

7 changes to make Dragon Age: Genesis go from good to great
As good as Dragon Age: Origins is, a few changes could make it great.
With this mod, you'll have the option to skip the buddy fade sections of this part of the game, leaving right to the boss battles. It's also optional, so if you get to that point in the game and change your mind, you can still go through the normal routes. This is great because it gives you the best of both worlds, and you can decide whether you want to do this difficult quest based on your mood.

Madd Gift Guide – maddbomber83
One mechanic of Dragon Age: Origins is the ability to romance party members, and even if you don't want to romance them, increasing their affection towards you will grant them bonus stats and abilities. Aside from in-game choices and interacting with them, another way to improve your relationship with your party members is to give them gifts.
However, you never know which gift items are going to get maximum affection from which party members. With the Madd Gift Guide, this simple mod will add the desired character's name to the front of the gift. This makes it easy to know which gift to give which party members, giving the right gift to the right member, especially if it is a specific high-end gift, will greatly boost the affection received from them.
4
Dragon Age Redesigned – Dracomies
This mod is basically an all-around improvement to the game's character designs and textures, with different options to suit each player's needs. Across the board, this will improve the detail and designs of NPCs and companions, but you can choose between more lore-accurate, beautiful, or a balance of both.

Dragon Age: Origins – The best skills and talents for warriors
Rule the battlefield of Dragon Age: Origins with these important skills and talents.
We (as well as the author) recommend a balanced package, which would be a combination of 'pretty' designs, and more knowledge-accurate designs that are closer to the original vision of the game.
3
Lock Bash – xatmos
Ever run into a locked door or chest, but no baddies at your party? Don't lie, it happens to the best of us. With this mod, you don't have to worry about that anymore, because it allows any character to try to open the lock with their weapon. However, this is not just a cheat mode.
Unlocking bashing has different requirements and RNG. It's based on your character's class and stats, so strength for a warrior or dexterity for a rogue, and you're also more likely to lose items inside if you roll a low score. So this saves you the inconvenience of having a lockpicking rogue all the time, but you have to weigh the risk and reward of trying to beat a chest or door.
2
Character specialization – weriKK
Dragon Age: Origins is a difficult game, especially for players new to the genre's strategic, real-time pause combat. Because of this, it will be easy to make mistakes in terms of character building as you level up. Or maybe you're an experienced player who wants to change the desired path of a party member to suit your needs.

That's where this mod comes into play. With character respecialization, you'll be able to completely reset and reallocate the skill points, attribute points, and specializations of everyone in your party. It's perfect for completely resetting a character's starting spells and abilities if you make a leveling mistake you want to reverse, or if you disagree with a game choice.

FtG UI Mod – More readable fonts and UI – FollowTheGourd
This mod is essential for anyone who plays at high resolutions, or who has an ultrawide monitor. What this mod does is enlarge the UI, allowing you to read abilities, dialog choices, inventory items, etc. at higher resolutions and larger monitors than the ones around when the game starts.
It's also useful just to make the font and UI high quality if you're playing on a normal 16:9 monitor. By default, the UI is a bit fuzzy and messy, so it will do the crisp for you. But again, playing on a large monitor or very high resolution, the mode is very much needed, otherwise the text will be incredibly small.
