In a game where you have to do a lot of defending, it's natural for many players to move up the order first. These guys specialize in holding the line with strong troops and strong siege weapons, making them ideal Age of Darkness Beginners. Their heroes, Edwin and Merek, are very strong when it comes to holding down hordes of lesser nightmares, but when it comes to dealing with the strong ones, they need the support of the rest of the faction.
Since the order's strongest units are its siege weapons, it will take some time before players can get the most out of this faction. However, once you get to the point where you can build siege units, it's smooth sailing from there.

Rebellion's normal playstyle is the opposite of Order. Instead of playing like a turtle, this faction encourages map exploration and expansion with its high-damage units. Like most RTS games, expanding Age of Darkness Ensures a stronger and more stable economy for later stages.
This faction caters more to players who prefer a balanced roster of units. Rebellion leans toward a range-heavy approach, but come mid-late game, players will need to use all of its units to secure success.

The Volatist faction specializes in air combat, and all of its units are built to make the most out of the worst scenarios. They thrive in the face of nightmares thanks to their clan trait, which makes the horror effect less powerful against them. Both of its heroes also have AOE healing skills that make Volatist units last longer than normal compared to their counterparts.
If you've played other factions before, Volatists will take some getting used to. They're going to be a little harder to defend against, if not more expensive than the others, and you'll have to be creative about how you use this faction's innate bonuses.
