While Antique Coins and Mr. Everywhere Bobbleheads offer rewards for finding them all, finding all the files may be even more important, as they fill in many gaps in the game's story and tie the Baker family, Mia, and Eveline into the wider Resident Evil universe. You also get a trophy/achievement for your troubles. Whether it's for appreciation or lore, this guide has been updated with lots of pictures and descriptions to show you where to find all the files in Resident Evil 7.
File location 1
the name: Email from Mia.
location: N/A
How to get: Check your inventory at the start of the game and check the file with the picture of Mia's face attached to it.
File location 2 and 3
the name: list of names (forward) and list of names (back).
location: Guest House B1.
How to get: This file is on the table in front of Mia's cell in the guest house. Make sure you flip through it and read back to add both entries to your collection. You will come here after going through the secret entrance of the fireplace.

the name: Home Improvement Store Receipt.
location: Dining Area (Main House 1F).
How to get: Look at the notes on the wall at the north end of the dining area.

the name: Newspaper Article – Missing Man.
location: Living Room (Main House 1F).
How to get: Look at the stack of newspapers on the coffee table in the living room. This is the same place you get one of the three dog heads Resident Evil 7.

How to get: Look at the table to the left of the shadow puzzle location in the main hall.

How to get: Go to the table at the back of the room to read this note. It is to the left of the Bobblehead and Antique Coin locations in this room.

How to get: Open the drawer next to the item chest in the northeast save room in the main house to get these two files — remember to read both sides. You'll naturally come to the story here after you solve the shadow puzzle, going down into the basement.

How to get: To pick up this file see the note above the sink in the incinerator room in the basement of the main house.

How to get: On the table under the broken mirror in the small granny's room area of the entertainment room — you need to get the Scorpion Key from the basement before entering. Make sure you pick up the Broken Shotgun here as well, if you want to replace it with the real deal to get the Shotgun in the main hall. Resident Evil 7.

How to get: In the same room as file 12. Look for the drawer to the left of the entrance.

the name: Zoe's research notes.
location: Trailer in the yard.
How to get: Look for a group of notes pinned to the wall east of the trailer near the Magnum Inn RE7. Before you can leave the main house and enter the trailer you need to find three dog heads.

the name: Marguerite's warning.
location: Old House (1F).
How to get: This file is pinned next to the crow door on the west side of the old house. Before you can access this part of the house you need to solve the shadow puzzle.

location: Altar (Old House 2F).
How to getAfter getting the Crow Key, open the box in the altar room of the old house.

the name: Margaret's Notebook.
location: Altar (Old House 2F).
How to get: Walk north from the main altar area with file 16 and look for the notebook on the dresser inside the small room at the end of this corridor. It's next to the piano.

the name: Memorandum on Deputy Chief.
location: Trailer in the yard.
How to get: Once you've defeated Marguerite, return to the trailer and examine the fridge after talking to Lucas on the phone to add this (very gross) file to your collection.

location: Children's Room (Main House 2F).
How to get: After you get the snake key from the dissection room, use it to open the snake door in the kid's room and check the journal on the left side of the room to get this file.

How to get: In the same room as the last file – it's under the broken mirror on the west side.

the name: Clock memo.
location: Master Bedroom (Main House 2F).
How to get: Use the Snake Key to enter the master bedroom on the second floor of the main house and look for the note pinned to the globe by the clock to the left of the bed.

location: Test Area 2F.
How to get: Once you've defeated the giant molded in the barn bit of the test area, ride the elevator and see the memo stuck to the corpse sitting on the chair.

location: Wrecked Ship 1F (as Mia).
How to get: Enter the dormitory with all the bunks on the east side of Wrecked Ship 1F and look in the bottom bunk in the northeast corner of the room to find this file.

How to get: From the location of the last file, turn around and go south into the next room and look for a table with a crate on it — the file is to the left of this crate.

location: Ship 2F (as Mia).
How to get: You can get this file after starting a VHS tape as Mia. This ship is on a table in the room with the item box on the 2F.

the name: A broken secret document.
location: Wrecked Ship 3F (as Mia).
How to get: Look down on the box in the east corner of the room next to the save point area where you watched the VHS tape.

the name: Mechanic's Memo.
location: Elevator (Corrupt Ship 2F).
How to get: You need to get the lug wrench from the cabin of the cabin before you open the hatch on the elevator and drop into the location of this memo. It's stuck in the wall next to where the fuse goes.

How to get: Back as Ethan, it's time to mop up the rest of the files Resident Evil 7. It is found up some stairs in the mine hideout by interacting with the first laptop. This is the area with many pictures of Evelyn.
