Apex Legends is now a whole new game

On Friday night, I made a serious mistake: I DMed the group chat about the comment Apex Legends I saw it on TikTok. For some reason, my For You page was feeding me a nonstop stream Apex Legends Content for the past day or two, including the saga of iiTzTimmy, CaseOh, and Jynxzi. I hate to admit it, but I'm impressed – that comment sums up my current mental space: “Life has gotten so serious I want to play Apex again.”

A friend replied, “I'm at the 'I should call him' stage with that game.” I told him if he did I would call him. A third soon joined in, and before we knew it, our Easter weekend free time was once again being consumed by Apex Games. It had been years since we played together seriously, but at one point, sports took over our lives. For three years in a row, it topped my most played list on Xbox, and it remains my favorite battle royale game of all time.

Apex Legends Reveals Mid-Season 28 Update Patch Notes

The mid-season 28 update for Apex Legends is almost here, and many characters are getting some big buffs this time around.

Of course, we eventually got away. It happened slowly: after playing nonstop for so long, we slowed down to a few weeks per season, then so infrequently that we rarely noticed we stopped. I can't be sure when we last played together, but it was shortly after Ballistic was added Apex Legends. Two or three years later, Apex Legends So much has changed that it just feels like the same game.

We first started playing the day Apex Legends dropped on Shadow Season 0 and have played/finished every Battle Pass for years.

Apex Legends is still Apex Legends, but…

Everything defined Apex Legends Still has, to be clear. My favorite part remains intact: the way Respawn's battle royale game rewards speed, aggression, and produces memorable firefights. Respawn understands the movement in video games better than any development studio out there. Then there are the skills required in any Apex match, the way you coordinate with a good team, the rotation and understanding of the map, the control of pace and aim in the game, the situational and contextual use of all guns and abilities—it all still feels the same. Apex Legends. Heck, this Friday game was like Apex going down; That's probably not exactly nostalgia, but it was old (as a rural player, it's pretty good in that respect too).

It felt like coming home in many ways. Did my octane charge up in a firefight without being prepared? yes Did I encounter a very-sweaty Wraith? yes But this is a house that has undergone serious renovations over the years, so much so that it's a whole new game (or house, to continue the metaphor).

Apex Legends Shockwave Akimbo Weapons

It was one of the first areas where we really felt the extent of these changes Apex Legends'Weapons. In the early seasons, for example, there was a clear delineation of the types you used to progress from weaker weapons to higher-level, better guns. You'll be constantly improving your kit through the match, and this is largely still how it works, there are so many ways to lock in kit, so many options, so many changes, that it all feels fresh.

  • Hemlock is no longer an explosive weapon, sorry? And is this a breach shot? The new Hemmy is very OP Apex Legends

  • I knew about the Akimbo P2020s and the Mozambiques, but come on, with the Mozambiques well looking at them in action? Many Mozambican jokes were made.

  • The R-301 and R-99 are still pretty cool, which is nice to see, but they feel boring compared to other guns right now.

  • Changing the RE-45 to an energy weapon just feels so wrong

  • Changing the Spitfire to a light weapon is even worse (we were there for that, but still. It will always be a heavy weapon in my heart).

And that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this aspect Apex Legends. How you develop your kit, select your upgrades, and use AMPs Apex LegendsAnd the whole gun meta feels very different (but importantly, no less powerful) than before. AMPs are a big change for one. I like infinite batteries the most, but I won't lie: one of iiTzTimmy's TikTok posts about the infinite ammo AMP and Kraber made my heart stop. WOW. In short, the whole weapon meta feels very refreshing after being gone for so long.

A Battlefield 6 player's attempt to recycle in battle royale mode saw their game come to an unexpected end, thanks to a UAV.

Legends of Apex Legends is Apex

It's not called the Apex Gun for a reason, though, and the same can be said of a high-quality bar. Apex Legends' character meta. I was there for the meta where Gibraltar was broken. I remember the Gibraltar weak meta. Now, we're clearly back in an era where Gibraltar is buff, and I love it for him. But beyond just the characters we've never played Apex LegendsComplete changes to playable characters make this a completely new game:

Seeing Fuse's main fire his ultimate and seeing it operate in a completely different way, in real time, was exciting and fun. A reworking of Lifeline leaves behind the days of care package drops as she lives up to her name. There's a lot – I don't want to mention it all, go check your old main Apex Legends right now Even while I can accept macro-changes, I'm not entirely sure I can accurately articulate all the changes at the micro level. Heck, even swapping duos in the Apex Legends game in the menu works differently.

Life got so serious that I needed to play Apex again

If you haven't played Apex Legends in at least two years, it sounds like it's time to go back. What greets you is a completely different game Apex Legends Your memories, and everything mentioned here, are just a drop in the ocean of change. The result is a great combo, at least for my friends and me. Life is something in 2026, and it shows no signs of slowing down. something about Apex Legends This is due to various hits, as well as years of hard work from developer Respawn Entertainment.
