ARC Raiders Several modifiers, known in-game as conditions, affect loot and certain gameplay elements. But a cold snap always stands out, as it completely transforms the Rustbelt with freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall.
One of Cold Snap's fan favorite features among hardcore players was the introduction of Frostbite. Characters slowly freeze when exploring open areas in snowy conditions, steadily slipping in their HP. This raised the stakes and turned exploration into a more strategic part of the gameplay loop, which many fans of the conclusion shooter genre appreciated. The good news is that players will soon be able to deal with the same punishing situations when the cold snap returns.

ARC Raiders Cold Snap re-release date revealed
Embark Studios shared the news on X, confirming ARC Raiders' Cold snap conditions will return to regular map rotation on February 10. The modifier was introduced with the December 2025 1.7.0 update, bringing the snowy season to the game. At the time, the cold snap was framed as a limited-time event and concluded in January 2026.
Some fans believe that the signs for Condition's return were already there. points out ARC Raiders' The latest roadmap, which states, “The cold snap has passed, but its threat casts a long shadow.” The roadmap also teased that “extreme weather will continue to test attackers as they scale the surface for resources to keep Speranza running.”
While some players have questioned why this condition was removed in the first place, most of the community seems happy to see it added back. One Reddit user summed up the general mood by saying, “I think the map is as good as it gets,” a sentiment echoed by many others.
It remains unclear if Cold Snap will be a permanent map state and if it will still include its unique collectible, Candleberries.
The upcoming February update is still expected to add new conditions
Following the news of Cold Snap's re-release, some fans expressed concern that this was the state of the map mentioned in the Escalation Roadmap. For those unfamiliar, Embark Studios has already confirmed that a brand-new modifier is coming with February's Shrouded Sky update. This led to concerns that the developer might bring back the cold snap instead of the promised new addition.
That said, it's worth noting that the Shrouded Sky update hasn't launched yet. Looks like a simple OTA change to extend Cold Snap's homecoming ARC Raiders' map states an existing pool rather than introducing something new. It also seems unlikely that Embark Studios will repackage the old mod and introduce it as a new feature.
Fans continue to speculate about the next major map situation
With Cold Snap confirmed as a returning state, an age-old question has resurfaced: What's going to be the next major map modifier? In the past, dataminers discovered files referencing a condition called a toxic swamp. It came with a modifier ARC RaidersA January update to fill the void left by the cold snap, but that never happened. So far, Embark Studios has not officially acknowledged the existence of the toxic swamps.
Beyond that theory, some fans are also hoping for a volcano-themed modifier in the future. This assumption comes to a large extent ARC Raiders' world map, which appears to feature a remote volcanic area. Whether any of these ideas will ever materialize remains to be seen. For now, what is certain is that players eager for more varied map conditions can return to Cold Snap and experience the harsh, wintery weather starting on February 10.
