With the server slam playtest over and the October 30th release date just around the corner, all eyes are on it. ARC Raiders To deliver a much-needed shot in the arm to the extraction shooter subgenre. Certainly, this sliver of the game industry has become the “hot new thing” over the past several years, reflected by the likes of the battle royale formula reaching levels of popularity.
This has led to a wave of subpar and derivative games under the “extraction shooter” umbrella – but ARC Raiders It promises to deliver something more. There are plenty of reasons to be excited about Embark's pivot into the extraction shooter space, not the least of which is its apparently iron-tight grip on the genre's fundamentals. decisively, ARC Raiders Dynamic loot system combined with cross-run progression through features like weapon bench and skill tree. As such, one can expect different metas to form over the game's live-service lifespan, and one weapon is likely to be a rising star from the start.
In this context, “meta” refers to any combination of weapons, skills, or general strategies that the game's community deems most effective at any given time.
ARC Raiders: Why Ferro Can Dominate Launch
ARC Raiders' ferro rifle is easy to master, with a high DPS ceiling
In a standard PvPvE extraction experience, weapons that are easy to access can often work pretty ubiquitously—sometimes, it makes more sense to adapt a low-level weapon than try to scale and adapt new strategies accordingly. The Ferro Rifle fits this description well, as there are a few easy obstacles in the way of making it:

As such, the Ferro can easily be called a “starter gun”, but its damage-dealing potential is not hampered by this. At its core, the Ferro is a heavy, single-shot break-action rifle, known in other sports as a “marksman” rifle. In other words, it's slow but packs an incredible punch. With its far above average range, Ferro can be an excellent resource for players with a keen eye for positioning, enemy movement, and route management.
It deals significant damage to other riders at a distance and is also effective against certain types of ARC machines. For example, drones like the Wasp and Hornet have small weak points that are difficult to hit with pistols, assault rifles and shotguns, but this process is made much easier with Ferro's pinpoint accuracy and long range. The mobility of drone-type enemies, as well as small, grounded ARCs, can also be effectively combated with well-placed shots from Ferro.
And that's to say something about the gun's upgrade path, which can reduce its reload time by up to 39%. Since Ferro's biggest mitigating factors are its long reload time and low rate of fire, increasing reload speed by more than a third of baseline can be extremely effective. Again, Fero is one ARC Raiders' most accessible weapons, and this is reflected in its modest upgrade requirements: it only takes metal parts and simple gun parts to upgrade each level.
On top of all these advantages, Ferro is simply fun to use, especially for those who like to balance risk and reward. Pulling off tough, long-range attacks with a powerful, single-shot rifle is extremely satisfying and rewarding, returning very little juice to squeeze. Since it's so easy to access and maintain, I can easily see it dominating ARC Raiders'Early Days in the Market. Only time will tell if and how future balance patches will affect this.
