Arc Raiders Visible Perma-Bans Due to Disabled Gamer Access Tools

Despite being the most popular shooter since its launch, Arc Raiders has struggled with cheating and various gameplay exploits. Embark has not been able to preempt these issues, resulting in slow responses. The devs have promised harsh consequences for those who violate the game's code of conduct, but it looks like the anti-cheat may have thrown off some real players.

Tay Huynh is a quadriplegic gamer who uses a sip and puff mouth accessibility controller called a QuadStick to play a variety of games, including Arc Raiders. According to his post on Reddit, Embark has imposed a permanent ban for “behavior that violates our code of conduct” without using any hacks, exploits, or cheats.

Arch Raiders Anti-Cheat does not pick up access controls

In his Reddit post, Huynh explained that he previously received a one-month ban from Ark Riders and had no resolution after filing a ticket or bringing it to the Ark Riders Discord channel. In the end, he decided to rest it and move on to other sports until the suspension was over.

Unfortunately, a day after playing, Huynh woke up to another notification that his account has been permanently suspended from Arc Raiders. “I don't have much going for me and I know they're people out there who are probably going through worse but it's pointless,” he said. “After 300+ hours of play, buying 3 other friends to run the game and getting excited for new maps and a bigger ARC enemy, I don't know what to do.”

He also shared videos of himself playing Fortnite with a Quadstick controller to make his case. Huynh revealed that his gamer tag is ClootyBapper, and while that's fun, it's not really a punishable offense.

The most likely scenario is that Arch Raiders' anti-cheat software picked up Huynh's QuadStick as some sort of cheat software or device, rather than an access controller. However, it's worrying that the devs didn't heed his appeal and reversed the ban after realizing what happened. Hopefully, the right people at Embark learn about this and address it as soon as possible.
