As part of Battlefield 6 As of the January 20 update, EA and Battlefield Studios also announced that a new fix has been released for progression issues arising from the current BF Pro bonus path rewards. After a hot start to the launch, Battlefield 6 It has hit a rough patch as of late, with player numbers dropping significantly from where they were in the first month. In addition to competing with other sports, Battlefield 6 It has seen its fair share of issues of late, perhaps leading to a slump as players wait for a fix.
Player frustration seems to have been building for some time, with many long-time players unhappy with the current map sizes in the game, while the rewards on offer, including numerous cosmetic skins, have earned the ire of the community for being perceived as missing the mark on the developer's promise of a “Ground” style outfit. Regardless, EA seems to be taking player feedback seriously, even delaying the launch of Season 2. Battlefield 6 More in February. Thankfully, one particularly big disappointment for fans is also being resolved with the January 20 update.
Battlefield 6 player count is down 89% from its peak
While it was one of the biggest releases of 2025, it looks like Battlefield 6 is seriously struggling to maintain its player count.
Battlefield 6 January 20 update adds bonus fixes
Battlefield 6The BF Pro Bonus Path, a premium upgrade that gives players even more rewards than a typical Battle Pass, came under fire from players this month. The Pro Bonus Path gave players 7 days to complete all 10 levels, which meant that most of the player base would not have enough time to complete it completely. Except for many players the last unlockable skin felt like the logo was ripped off Call of DutyThe big problem is that many players will probably need to spend Tier Skips or Battlefield Coins to unlock all 10 tiers, essentially forcing them to spend real money to do so.
Feedback has apparently reached EA as the official Battlefield Comms account has posted an update on Pro Path progress, which should make players happy. As part of Battlefield 6As of January 20th update, Path Rewards from BF Pro Pass will be given to all eligible players via in-game mailbox. When a pass has expired, this change ensures that players who are prevented from expiring will still have access to the rewards they are owed. Unfortunately, that doesn't indicate whether future passes will be fine-tuned to prevent this from happening again.
Ultimately, this issue stems from a larger problem facing the game in terms of the grind forced upon players. Battlefield 6 The studio has struggled to balance its grind since launch, constantly tweaking elements of the core gameplay, such as making challenges easier and faster to complete. Many comments on the post continue to highlight the pained nature of the post itself Battlefield 6Reducing the fun for some, while others can't keep up with busy schedules or commit to constant churning. Others are speculating that the used tier skips will also return as part of this fix, though there's no official word yet.
However, as EA continues to improve based on player feedback and delays in the new season, there seems to be some cautious optimism about the future. Battlefield 6. Season 2 is certainly under a lot of pressure to deliver, with many continuing to list their wish list of content, from larger maps, naval engagements, to possible returns of fan-favorite locations from previous games in the franchise. Without much information for Season 2, fans will have to wait a while to see where EA and Battlefield Studios are taking the game.
