In an extensive community update to round out the year in X, Battlefield Studios gave a small overview of what the development team is working on this time around for next year. According to the developer, “core gameplay, balance, and quality of life improvements” are the priority right now, but it's not about reworking existing content. It also confirmed that new developments are underway Battlefield 6 maps and weapons, with the aim of “creating new strategic opportunities and evolving the experience in a meaningful way”. Presumably, these maps and weapons are being prepared for seasonal content drops in 2026. There wasn't much in the way of concrete details, allowing it to fully reveal its new content when it's ready to be shown next year.
The developer also hinted at some big plans for Battlefield Labs. The program was extremely useful pre-launch, as it allowed players to provide feedback on specific gameplay elements in an ever-changing live environment. It went offline post-launch, but Battlefield Labs was brought back earlier this month as a way for many players to get feedback on experimental changes without changing live gameplay. In the post, the developer confirms that it intends to expand Battlefield Labs next year “Bringing more of its uses to the live experience.” What form that will take remains to be seen, but it will be interesting to see if there are any major gameplay changes that result from this approach.
