Although Battlefield Studios did not set an official release date for Season 2, it is expected to begin later this month, as Season 1 was originally scheduled to end on January 20. However, in a new press release, Battlefield Studios has announced that the first season. Battlefield 6 and REDSEC It will now run until the launch of season 2 on February 17. According to the studio's statement, the revised launch date is to allow additional time to further develop and refine Season 2 as a result of community feedback.
While fans will now have to wait five more weeks to jump into the game's second season, Battlefield Studios hasn't left players empty-handed. An “expansion update” will begin on January 20th, featuring new weekly challenges, a bonus path, and the continuation of the Season 1 Battle Pass. The Frostfire Bonus Path will be available starting January 27 and gives players the chance to unlock new free and premium customization rewards by progressing through the levels of the Frostfire Bonus Path, including weapon packages and soldier skins, as well as XP boosts. Battlefield Studios says that the Frostfire bonus path can be completed simultaneously Battlefield 6 Season 1 Battle Pass and, unlike previous bonus paths, all bonus path points for Frostfire can be earned through weekly challenges, as there are no bonus challenges associated with the Frostfire bonus path.
The studio also notes how there will be Valentine's Day celebrations, another set of daily login rewards and several double XP weekends throughout the update period. Players eager to see new fixes will be happy to know that the January 20 update will also include various improvements, but exact details are yet to be shared.
Battlefield Studios intends to continue to support Battlefield Labs as a way for the community to preview future game updates once they have reached the final stages of development. “Both the Season 1 expansion and use of Battlefield Labs will set the foundation for new and exciting content in our live seasons, including what's to come in Season 2,” the studio said. Although the details of Season 2 are currently unknown, Battlefield Studios says that more details will be shared in February, along with a larger roadmap for 2026.
