Best Assault Rifles to Use on Zombies in CoD: Black Ops 7

summary

  • Zombies is different from ARs multiplayer; Handling, rate of fire, and magazine capacity are more important than peak DPS.

  • The DS20 Mirage is a surprising top pick with its built-in grenade launcher and massive pack-a-punch scaling.

  • The AK-27 and M15 fall apart at higher rounds, while the X9 and MXR suffer from mobility, ammo, or fire rate issues.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has had its time in the spotlight for a few weeks now, allowing everyone to max out their weapons to reach higher levels of prestige and equip them with the best attachments. And, while we know which Assault Rifles perform best in multiplayer, what about the fan-favorite Zombies mode?

Turns out, that's a very different task, because you're looking for very different benefits in comparison. Some of the ARs that dominate the online space won't be the best to bring to Zombies and vice versa. Fortunately, they are all practical, with some outshining the rest, making them a must-have for survival!

Here's everything you need to know about weapon prestige in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7!

X9 Maverick

A look at the X9 Maverick Assault Rifle with no attachments in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

Prof

Opposition

  • Inconsistent due to burst-fire

  • Poor maneuverability and handling

Rounding things off is the three-round burst AR, the X9 Maverick, which is a solid weapon overall but can be a bit risky to fire at Zombies, especially in later rounds when targets take more bullets to put down. Not only do you have to land all three shots with each burst to maximize its damage output, but you also have to deal with its severely poor handling and mobility, which is a huge problem for this mode.

While its damage output is very promising, especially after packing-a-punch, the fact that you can leave a large amount of damage on the table if your entire burst isn't connected is a glaring issue. Add that you're practically stationary when using this thing, on top of that, and you have the worst AR for this mod out of the bunch!

Peacekeeper MK1

A look at the Peacekeeper MK1 Assault Rifle with no attachments in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

Prof

Opposition

  • Fast fire rate

  • Amazingly accurate

  • Excellent dynamics and handling

  • Low damage output

  • Ammo can burn through very quickly

  • A lot depends on attachments

Another disappointment, as we had high hopes for Peacekeeper MK1 in Zombies. But, alas, it falls a bit short, as you throw away its ammunition in the blink of an eye, and its accuracy can be a bit much to handle, which is not what you want when trying to dispatch large groups of Zombies. Its handling and dynamics are top-notch, but everything else doesn't make it worth the risk.

A positive note here is that, when Pack-A-Punched, the Peacekeeper MK1 has much more solid damage and can shoot much faster than it already did. We reckon that with proper construction, you can reign in some of its more obvious problems, but you shouldn't have to put in nearly as much effort as most other ARs, putting it at the bottom of the list!

MXR-17

A look at the MXR-17 Assault Rifle in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 without attachments.

Prof

Opposition

  • High damage output

  • Excellent accuracy

  • Slow fire rate

  • Upheaval magazine

  • Superbar dynamics

After that, we have the lovely MXR-17, which is a major AR in multiplayer but falls a bit short in Zombies. While it still delivers devastating damage output, its slower-than-average rate of fire puts it far behind its basic 25-round magazine. And, when Pack-a-Punched, you can expect to fly through the little ammunition you have, which is a bummer.

We still love the MXR-17 for what it brings to the table, as it's a laser beam that deals incredible damage, but its issues are too big to ignore. This is something that can be managed with attachments, but there are still better options that won't stop you with slow fire rates, shallow magazines, and okay-ish maneuverability and handling!

M15 mode 0

A look at the M15 Mod 0 Assault Rifle with no attachments in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

Prof

Opposition

  • High damage output

  • Fast fire rate

  • Decent purity

  • Low damage output

  • Average dynamics and handling

Ah, yes, the M15 Mod 0, the best Assault Rifle in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's multiplayer. While it's still a top-three pick in Zombies, it's at the bottom of the high-end, which was surprising to us. While its mobility, handling, and damage output are decent, it sports the second-highest fire rate for ARs, which does a lot of the heavy lifting, putting it over the top.

This thing falls apart, and that's before you pack-a-punch, which, at that point, makes it an incredibly powerful and arguably perfect weapon. The M15 Mod 0 has excellent accuracy and a high rate of fire, a perfect combination that is hard to beat. However, its subpar damage output and mobility make it a little ineffective against Zombies, but it's still essential if you want to make it far!

2

AK-27

A look at the AK-12 assault rifle in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 without attachments.

Prof

Opposition

  • High damage output

  • Excellent vertical recoil

  • Excellent mobility

  • Poor horizontal recoil

  • Poor handling

For our final pick, we're going with the devastating AK-27. The reason we prefer it over the M15 in Zombies is its greater damage output, better vertical recoil, and faster mobility. It has very poor horizontal recoil and handling, but that can be easily patched up with some attachments. And, when Pack-a-Punched, this thing turns into an absolute monster.

While the AK-27 is very reliable in multiplayer, we didn't expect to love it as much as we did in Zombies. It crumbles and can glow brightly at the highest rounds. If you want to tear through hordes of zombies while maintaining tremendous mobility, this is the AR for you. As always, you can't go wrong with AK in a Call of Duty title!

1

DS20 Mirage

Prof

Opposition

  • Above-average damage output

  • Integrated grenade launcher

  • Arguably the best pack-a-punch AR

  • Average dynamics and handling

  • Decent purity that needs some work

Speaking of a stunning weapon in Zombies, our top pick is the DS20 Mirage, which we felt was lacking in a few key areas on the multiplayer side of things. However, for this mode, it is the one explosion to use Its integrated grenade launcher is a lifesaver, making it a great tool for clearing groups of zombies, especially in the early rounds. It punches above its weight, which we didn't expect.

Furthermore, when the DS20 Mirage is Pack-a-Punched, its decently high damage output is further multiplied, putting it on par with a Pack-a-Punched AK or M15. Despite its fair-to-average accuracy and maneuverability, it's more than serviceable and won't hold you back like other weapons. In Zombies, DS20 Mirage is absolutely fantastic and should not be slept on!
