While Borderlands 4 received a great reception at launch, performance issues were more widespread. It took a while for the gearbox to fix them, but eventually, fans could enjoy everything Kairos had to offer. Unfortunately, longtime fans have been complaining that there isn't enough endgame content to keep them going.
Players have complained that the Kairos Halloween event and bounty packs are both scary, offering no more than a few cosmetics, guns, and a small bit of story content. While weekly updates keep the game going, there are bosses you can farm until you have all the weapons you want. With no major content missing, Gearbox decided to ask the community what they wanted from weekly events.
Gearbox wants you to decide what the weekly updates will look like
“We're hard at work on your 2026 content, including a new bounty pack, your first story pack, and Takedown,” said a tweet by the official Borderlands handle. “As we work on these long-lead projects, we want to know what weekly endgame activities you'd like to see more (or less!) of.”
It came with a link to a survey that asked players to fill in what they would like to see in the upcoming weekly updates. This is very basic information such as favorite and least favorite bosses, weapons, and campaign missions. The second part of the survey asks players to rate their level of excitement for potential limited-time events and their rewards.
While this is a great way to tweak the weekly updates, the survey unfortunately doesn't touch on fans' main issue with the game – the complete lack of new content. Gearbox has been extremely slow to add new content and DLCs for Borderlands 4, and it's making it difficult for even loyal fans to stick around.
With new story packs scheduled for 2026, Borderlands 4 may miss out on some major holiday traffic, leaving the game with not much to do. Many players now feel that the game could use the next year's worth of time to improve overall performance and reduce the time gap between content drops.
