Campaign 33 will likely be on Switch 2 in 2026, Insider predicts

Aside from the first-party games you couldn't play anywhere else, one of the Switch 2's biggest selling points was that it meant Nintendo would finally have a console powerful enough for third-party studios to put out their latest games. Those games haven't arrived at quite the speed early Switch 2 adopters might have hoped for, but that speed will almost certainly be expected this year with big games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 on the platform.

Sandfall Interactive has already confirmed that it is exploring the possibility of bringing Expedition 33 to the Switch 2. It may be figuring out how to navigate those waters faster. During the 2026 Predictions podcast, usually reliable insider Nate the Hate went claire obscur earlier when listing the third-party games he expects to see on the Switch 2 before the end of the year.

Before the end of 2026 we may have campaign 33 on Switch 2 of 2026

“We're going to see a lot more ports coming to Switch 2 in 2026. From different franchises, and I know some ports won't surprise people. Titles like Expedition 33 are coming to Switch 2 in 2026,” Nate said. A podcast title prediction, but that sounds a little more concrete than prediction to me.

To no one's surprise, Claire Obscur: Expedition 33 was the most “completed” game in 2025

It seems everyone had to see for themselves what the hype was all about.

Of course, things can change, and until we have a confirmed release date from Sandfall or Nintendo, there's no way to know for sure when and if Expedition 33 will come to Switch 2. However, you should assume that both parties want to do this. Sandfall so that it can bring its hit game to a wider audience, and give Nintendo the 5 million-selling 2025 Game of the Year on its latest console.

Although Expedition 33 is the headliner, Nate continued, predicting a big year for third-party Switch 2 ports in 2026. Another game that was in the running for GOTY in 2024 was Metaphor: Refantazio. Not hearing Nate mention its possible arrival on the platform later this year reminded me that it's still not on the Switch 2. A game that almost feels like it was made for the Switch 2, was thwarted by a release date that came before the console's arrival.

Nate's list also includes Red Dead Redemption 2, which has been expected to come to the Switch 2 for some time, and the last three Resident Evil remakes. With Resident Evil 7 and Village releasing on Switch 2 next month along with Resident Evil Requiem, it makes a lot of sense for the hit trilogy of remakes to follow in their footsteps if they're successful, which they likely will be.
