WASHINGTON: New York's suburban Nassau County has passed a bill banning pro-Palestinian protesters from wearing masks aimed at concealing their identities against US support for Israel's war on Gaza. The ban on masks covers any form of public protest, but lawmakers in the Republican-controlled county say the bill is intended to prevent protesters involved in alleged violence and anti-Semitism from hiding their identities and avoiding accountability. Civil rights advocates saw the move as a violation of the right to free speech.
