Former employees of Warhorse Studios claim they were replaced by AI
The person in question, who identified himself as Max H, claims to have been working at Warhorse Studios since July 2022 as a Czech to English translator. They alleged that they were invited to a meeting on March 27, 2026 and were suddenly informed that their positions in the company would be “obsolete” from April 2026. According to the statement, the company said it intends to use AI “for all translations going forward” in an effort to make Max H “more efficient” and “save money”. Max H further claims that conversations about the use of AI for translation at Warhorse Studios have come up in the past, and that Max H has “always been strongly and vocally against such changes”. Max H now feels “incredibly betrayed” but has asked fans not to harass the rest of the staff and to refrain from reviewing any games by Warhorse Studios.
At the time of writing, there has been no official statement by Warhorse Studios on Max H's claims. Under the original Reddit post, moderators claim to have officially verified Max H's identity, although it is unclear how this verification was accomplished. Some commenters under the post believe they have found a LinkedIn account possibly associated with Max H, but these are also unverified at this time. It's important to note that any verification of Max H's identity does not legitimize the allegation that he was overruled and replaced by an AI, so viewers will want to keep an eye on how the situation develops. Given the sheer number of video game companies in recent years, there's no way to know if Warhorse Studios will make an official acknowledgment or statement on the matter.
Warhorse Studios is far from the only company to face accusations of laying off employees in favor of AI replacements. An internal memo sent after Microsoft layoffs in 2025 noted that AI tools were prioritized following those specific terminations, leading many to question whether other major game studios are also taking advantage of artificial intelligence to achieve cost-cutting measures.
