Destiny 2's most used weapon poses a huge problem for Bungie

After Edge of Fate and Ash and Iron's general distasteful reaction, Fate 2 Need Renegades to hit. There are many moments where Fate 2 It seemed to be a bit of fun, and if the upcoming expansion didn't land, things would feel terrible, but this time was a little different. Player sentiment was down for a while, major changes made during Edge of Fate were disliked, and many of them were completely reversed, and the lack of communication worried the community.

With all of that in mind, it makes sense that Bungie puts a lot of extra love and attention into it Fate 2: Renegades. The Star Wars-inspired expansion pulled out all the stops when it came to product value and activities, but most of all, Bungie brought a lot of fun new toys to the table in the form of hot weapons. Even then, nothing could hold a candle to Praxic Blade, Fate 2version of the lightsaber.

The Praxic Blade may be Destiny 2's strongest weapon

When I first previewed it Fate 2At Bungie HQ's Renegades expansion, I knew the Praxic Blade was going to be special. But it wasn't until the expansion was officially released and players began building crafts that the lightsaber's power was truly evident. This is one of the easiest Fate 2is the most powerful weapon and it is very fun to use.

Destiny 2 Renegades Praxic Blade Via Bungie

One has to assume that Bungie paid a lot of attention to the Praxic Blade, making sure that it was not only viable but strong. This season's Artifact, for example, has a few mods that make Praxic Blade even stronger, from Argent Blade to Sword Storm Combo. Not to mention, the new Equilibrium dungeon has two boss encounters that are perfectly set up to take a beating from some laser swords.

Bungie knew what it was doing with the Praxic Blade. They needed to be strong in arms to ensure that the Renegades were not disappointed. You can't have a Star Wars expansion that gives players a lightsaber and it can't take pressure off your primary weapon slot.

The Praxic Blade is a breakthrough. It is the most used weapon Fate 2 By a wide margin and you can't go into any activity, from the new Lawless Frontier to the Arena Ops playlist, without seeing at least one Fireteam member using it. As a Titan main, I have to force myself not to use the Praxic Blade because it is too strong and most high-end materials require high-strength construction.

Destiny 2's lightsaber creates a problem that Bungie may need to address

But here is where things get complicated. As I mentioned, the Praxic Blade is so good that you won't want to use anything else. Bungie did its job but now it faces its biggest problem yet. how do Fate 2 Proceed to find out that Praxic Blade exists?

The obvious answer is that Bungie is going to nerf Praxic Blade Shadow and Order, the next major update for Fate 2. But while a weapon nerf might have been expected (or even welcomed) in the past, this one is a little different for a few reasons.

  1. Many players returned Fate 2 with the Renegades, and they will be disappointed to see their favorite weapon – the best weapon – become irrelevant.

  2. The community is on a tighter playing field than in years past, so it's not easy for Bungie to make a nerf and lose its audience.

  3. You can't make sci-fi's most powerful weapon suddenly inert.

One of the challenges with a live service game is that you have to find a way to challenge the players with the tools available. If the lightsaber remains as powerful as it is now, future content will be built around the expectation that praxic blades can make it smaller. Bosses will be given more stomp mechanics, or spaced out, or given higher health pools. Other weapons need to meet or exceed the power of the Praxic Blade and then power creep becomes an issue as older weapons fall by the wayside.

Bungie has solutions to these problems, but they can create new problems. As it stands now, primary weapons are practically useless in high-level content and Bungie needs to fix that as well. They have a better line for the legs and not the same amount of wiggle room they used to have.

I think a change to the Prax Blade's ammo economy is a good solution, and possibly a “nerf” to how the bungee makes the weapon. Without the artifact mods it would still be pretty strong, but not overpowering, and the low ammo means you can't hold the lightsaber out for full activity. Still, a nerf is a nerf, and it's a “bad” word for a reason.

In the past, I would have counted the days on nerf, but now I'm not so sure. Even with the success of Renegades, Fate 2 It's in a weird place right now and Bungie is under the microscope. Perhaps the lightsaber will stick around longer than we expect. For now, I'll continue to enjoy Praxic Blade and let Bungie figure out how to address it.
