Dragon Quest 1 and 2 Remake streamers can't show ending spoilers for a month

If you're planning to stream the Dragon Quest I and II HD-2D remakes when it launches on October 30 – or any time next month – you'll want to quickly familiarize yourself with Square Enix's Arguably Draconian. Restrictions. Publishers are no stranger to certain guidelines within this range, nor are they alone in these matters, but DQI, and by extension, DQII, have some pretty strict mandates.

If you are just planning clock Content creators' vids, if those vids come to you without commentary, you might find yourself all sorts of wondering why key scenes were left out. By November 29, such measures should be taken to ensure that no copyright headaches arise.

Square is especially protective of the mysterious post-credits scene

Screenshots of Dragon Quest 1 and 2 HD-2D remakes, showing pixel art characters. They gather at a circular altar on the ground, which is in the forest.

Posted on Dragon Quest's official Japanese website, (and thanks for the heads-up, VGC!), the lengthy mandate covers a wide range of content. Most notable, however – and far and away stubbornly Written – is the “second credit sequence” of Dragon Quest II. Interestingly, and this may be nothing, but the correct wording here is “refrain from live streaming or posting videos/pictures of gameplay”. In other words, there can be real gameplay. The Dragon Quest III HD-2D remake had postgame content, and DQII seems beefed-up considerably from the original versions, so it might be something to that effect.

Nor are spoilers allowed without being designated as such. “To avoid spoiling other players' entertainment, you must mark all content containing details of major plot developments with a clear spoiler warning.” Honestly, this concept is a warm welcome; The problem arises, I imagine, from the internet's apparent inability to, in fact, contain spoilers in the context of video games. I see these arguments getting blown up all the time, so maybe…don't post anything that could even remotely be interpreted as such. Not when the official warning!

Dragon Quest HD2D Remake Tantezel's King

“You are not allowed to create edited video content or playlists with the goal of showing only cinematic scenes,” the notice continues, nor are music-only uploads allowed. The latter is a good standard fare; The former is a consistently applicable standard. “You may not change or modify the Content, except: You may add your own avatars, voice-overs, texts, and other generally required readings to share the Content,” it continues. Which is, in my experience, a pretty weird bet?

“Illegal or immoral sites or services,” “sites or services related to religious, political, or antisocial activities,” and “sites or services intended only for persons 18 years of age or older” are all no-go areas for sharing content from Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake. Which is a bad thing, isn't it? I can imagine many complications. You can be “temporarily or permanently”. [suspended]”From playing the game if you don't comply with the various countermeasures.

I think I'm going to share…a lot. Save for my review on Nova Crystallis, in any case, where I do, in fact, discuss plenty—albeit strictly within Square's review guidelines.
