More than any other character Game of ThronesJon Snow has one of the most impressive on-screen achievements in the entire series. By the time Jon became King in the North at the end of Season 6, he had been trained by Rodrik Castle at Winterfell, Elisor Thorne at Castle Black, lived among the Wildlings for nearly a year, fought wights, killed a White Walker, and survived two of the toughest battles in Westeros history. Not just Jon Snow's reputation Game of Thrones Trying to hype up its main character – every battle he takes part in makes it clear why John is considered one of the greatest living swordsmen in history.
A Game of Thrones by George RR Martin 5-Book Boxed Set (Song of Ice and Fire Series) Mass Market Paperback
Jon Snow doesn't start off well, though. Being Castle trained he has an advantage over his fellow brothers of the Night's Watch, but it takes time to develop the impressive skills he displays in the Battle of Hardholme and Batards. John is constantly putting his life on the line and learning from his mistakes in battle, making him Game of Thrones' A great swordsman – but not all of his fights are as amazing as those shown in Battle of the Bastards.

Jon Snow vs. Viserion is Jon's final, and most disappointing, battle in the series
Season 8 is far and away Jon Snow's worst season Game of Thrones. After serving more or less as the main character of the series from Seasons 5 to 7, Jon takes a backseat to Daenerys, Tyrion and Arya as he quietly hides in the corner of scenes, declaring that he “doesn't want it” or saying nothing. In an attempt to subvert expectations, Jon never fights the Night King Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 3, The Long Night.
Instead, Jon ends the episode trying and failing to get past Viserion. Although Jon Snow has a Valyrian steel sword that can kill the undead Viserion in one-hit, he cannot cut the gap between them and only survives Viserion's fire because Rhaegal damages the dragon's throat earlier in the episode. Ultimately, Jon accepts his death by yelling at Viserion before Arya kills the Night King in time, saving his brother from an ignominious death where he could do nothing.

Jon Snow vs Orel is more emotional than exciting
One of Mance Rayder's Wargs, Orell is immediately suspicious of Jon Snow when he is blamed by the Night's Watch for joining the Wildlings in Season 3. Game of Thrones. Orel is motivated mainly by jealousy, since he's clearly in love with Ygritte, but he's also right about Jon Snow – the Watch's “former” brother is anything but, and he's biding his time before he reaches Castle Black.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Confirms Disappointing Game of Thrones Theory
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is still 50 years out from the tragedy at Summerhall, but the prophecy in Episode 3 confirms a long-held theory.
Jon Snow's fight with Orel is short as Jon kills him relatively quickly, but it shows what wargs can do. As he dies, Orel falls on his eagle, which attacks John. The real highlight of the fight is Summer and Shaggydog helping Jon fight the Wildlings, and not Jon's duel with Orel, Jon's confrontation with Ygritte after Jon shoots him with an arrow as he tries to escape.

Jon Snow vs. Carl Tanner teaches Jon to fight dirty
Carl Tanner was invented for a show-only character Game of ThronesWhich is loosely based on Dirk and Clubfoot Carl A Song of Ice and Fire Books. Carl effectively serves as the leader of the rebels in seasons 3 and 4 Game of Thrones. After killing Lord Commander Mormont and capturing Craster's keep, Carl Tanner extracts a goblet from Mormont's skull and enslaves Craster's wives. In a mission that's equal parts revenge and a means to ensure the Wildlings don't get information from their rebel brothers, Jon leads a small group beyond the Wall to kill the Rebels.
Jon Snow's fight with Carl Tanner is brilliantly choreographed, but really stands out for teaching Jon a valuable lesson: he needs to fight dirt. The Legend of Jin Eli comes very close to killing John when he spits in his eye during their duel, temporarily blinding John. Jon Snow is saved only by one of Craster's wives and Carl kills himself. After this fight, John begins to fight more aggressively and treat his duels like honorable sword fights with rules and like they really are life or death fights.

Jon Snow vs. Khorin Halfhand was Jon's first life-or-death duel
Khorin Halfhand is one of the most memorable characters Game of ThronesJon would carry it until his death at the end of season 5, giving Jon Snow his mission to infiltrate the Wildlings and instill in him a deep pride and respect for the Night's Watch. After Jon Snow and Khorin are captured by wildlings beyond the Wall, the Halfhand realizes that the Night is the only way to save Jon. faulty
Leading Jon Snow into a life-or-death battle, Korin forces Jon to kill him. While Halfhand doesn't want to kill Jon, Khorin doesn't back down in any way and pushes Jon to truly fight for his life. In the end, Jon kills Khorin with Longclaw, earning his place among the Wildlings. In the books, Khorin Halfhand is a very defined and developed character, but his scenes Game of Thrones Season 2 was replaced with new scenes to help flesh out Jon and Ygritte's relationship earlier than in the books.

Jon Snow vs. Styre, the highlight of the Battle of Magnar Castle Black in Thane
Season 4, episode 9, The Watchers on the Wall, is one of the best war episodes ever Game of Thrones. As the Wildlings enter Castle Black, Jon Snow and the rest of the Night's Watch are forced to fight them on their own turf. The battle is chaotic as everyone is forced to fight off an onslaught of barbarians. The main feature of the battle is Jon Snow's duel with Styre, Magner of Thane.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms quietly confirms a 28-year-old Game of Thrones theory
28 years after the release of The Haze Knight, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Episode 1 quietly confirmed that Dunk was not knighted by Ser Arlan of Penitree.
Their duel is frantic and brutal as Jon and Styre trade blows that almost cost each other their lives. Styr comes very close to killing Jon when he smashes the bastard's face with an anvil, but Jon does what Carl Tanner did to him several episodes ago. Spitting blood into Styre's eyes, Jon distracts him long enough to kill him on the spot by driving his hammer through the Magnar of the Thann's head.

Jon Snow vs. Ramsay Bolton is as violent as it is cathartic
Game of Thrones Season 6, Episode 9, The Battle of the Bastards, is widely considered the best battle, if not the episode, in the series, and it's not hard to see why. After several seasons of frustrating plot twists and the Starks going through pure hell, Jon Snow finally reclaims Winterfell in a stunningly shot episode that features pitch battles that are purely violent and fate-based. Jon Snow slashing his way through the Bolton soldiers is an amazing sight, but it's the one-sided beating of Ramsay Bolton that takes the cake.
Ramsay is Game of Thrones' most despicable villain, so seeing Jon Snow fight his way back to Winterfell and kill Ramsay with his bare hands is nothing short of incredible. It's cathartic to see the heroes get a real win after so long. The only reason Ramsay lives is because Jon decides to give Sansa the final say on how Ramsay should die. In the end, Ramsay dies screaming as his hunters feed on his pitiful corpse.

Jon Snow vs. White Walker is the biggest sword fight in Game of Thrones history
Season 5, episode 8, Hardhome, was the episode that changed everything Game of Thrones. In the books, Jon Snow only reads about Hardhome in a letter – in the show, Jon Snow visits Hardhome and sees for himself what the White Walkers are capable of. Within minutes, the Wildling settlement is overrun by Wights and the dead rise to life in a truly terrifying display of power – one that the Night King can never successfully pull off again.
Everything comes to a head when Jon Snow comes face to face with a White Walker. Completely outmatched, John tries hard to survive, but is forced to clash with others. To his surprise, Jon Snow's Valyrian steel sword Longclaw does not shatter in the duel. Instead, Jon Snow kills the White Walkers with a single blow in a duel that is both tense and memorable.
