Every Romanceable Character in Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 players have been delving pretty deeply into this Dungeons and Dragons story. One of the major things players can do this early in the story is to start romancing one of their many companion characters.

There are many characters with whom players can build a romantic relationship. To romance any one of these characters, you will have to be careful about all of your choices in the game and act in a way that will get that person to like them.

Bladur’s Gate 3: Complete Romance Guide

A complete list of all romance options in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Updated on March 2, 2026, by Nahda Nabiilah: Romance is not necessary in Baldur’s Gate 3, but it does add a hint of realism and unlock certain dialogue and extra scenes with your chosen companion. If you are trying to romance any character or simply want to befriend them, you need to pay attention to their affection and approval as it plays a major role in how they treat you.

Astarion

  • Gender: Male
  • Race: High Elf
  • Class: Rogue

Astarion is a vampire and one of the first characters you encounter at teh begining of the game. This roguish, silver-tongued vampire is fairly easy to romance, is all about pleasure and making the bad guys pay for their sins with their lives. He’ll also warm up to Tav quickly if players let him drink their blood.

The scars on his back hide a painful past as well as a difficult choice that Tav must make in Act 3 when completing the Pale Elf companion quest. Make sure to be on the lookout for a female Drow in Moonrise Tower in Act 2, as she serves as an essential step for romancing Astarion.

Gale

  • Gender: Male
  • Race: Human
  • Class: Wizard

Gale is another Baldur’s Gate 3 companion that will join the player’s party in Act 1; players can find him stuck inside a Waypoint around the beach where the Nautiloid crashes. This noble is all about magic, and he is a powerful wizard for Tav to have at their side.

You will learn very quickly that Gale has a condition requiring him to consume magical artifacts. Keeping the Wizard of Waterdeep in your camp means Tav has to sacrifice some of their loot for Gale. Keep in mind this is a temporary condition that will stabilize later on.

Baldur’s Gate 3: Hardest Characters To Romance

Romance isn’t exactly easy, and the fantasy characters of Baldur’s Gate 3 might be hard to woo if players deny their lengthy personal quests.

Karlach

  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Asmodeus Tiefling
  • Class: Barbarian

Karlach is a kind-hearted soul that got caught up in the Infernals’ war. She escaped and is now looking to rid the world of as much evil as possible. Be kind to strangers, and this she-devil will fall for Tav with her whole infernal machine heart.

The Tiefling’s story is closely connected to Wyll, but there is a way to keep them both as companions and gain approval. Karlach is a kind-hearted character that will disapprove of most cruel acts, meaning a romance as an evil Dark Urge might be challenging.

Lae’zel

  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Githyanki
  • Class: Warrior

This Githyanki soldier is the first to team up with Tav on the Nautiloid, and she is looking to cure herself of the tadpole as quickly as possible. She is also a romanceable character in Baldur’s Gate 3. To romance her, players will need to show great strength as well as be efficient in battles, as apparently, it turns her on.

Lae’zel is a Githyanki warrior that plays a big role in Act 1 while exploring the Crèche. She also has a bigger role later on in Act 3, which also includes the Dream Guardian. Unlike most companions, Lae’zel will suggest physical intimacy at first and then slowly accept the emotional parts of a relationship later on.

Minthara

  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Drow
  • Class: Paladin

Minthara is either a potential boss for players in Baldur’s Gate 3, or they can have her as a companion. She is a Drow Paladin that commands an army of Goblins. To begin capturing her heart, players will need to betray Zevlor and join Minthara’s hunt for the Druids Grove. Only players willing to side with the Absolute and become a villain will have a chance with this Drow.

On the other hand, there is a way to romance Minthara while protecting the Druid Grove. Instead of dealing the finishing blow, turn on non-lethal attacks and knock her out. This way, you meet her again in Act 2 and can start romancing near the end of the act or at the beginning of Act 3. This method does push the romance into later acts instead of starting from Act 1, but it is necessary if you wish to avoid being a villain.

  • Gender: Female
  • Race: High Half-Elf
  • Class: Cleric

Shadowheart is yet another romanceable RPG character in BG3 that players meet in the early parts of the story. She is devoted to Lady Shar, a goddess of both pain and darkness. To get Shadowheart as a romantic partner, players will have to work hard to earn her trust and have an understanding of her history and her goals. Even if players don’t align with Shar’s beliefs, simply avoid fighting with Shadowheart about her goddess.

The result of your romance will shine during Act 2, as Shar plays a huge role in it. So, make sure to have Shadowheart in your party to avoid losing her forever.

Wyll

  • Gender: Male
  • Race: Human
  • Class: Warlock

Wyll lost his soul in a bargain with demons to become a hero and protect his home. He is looking for a way out so that he can save his soul and maybe romance the main character while he’s at it in the lengthy RPG Baldur’s Gate 3.

Karlach plays a role in Wyll’s story as he is ordered to hunt her down. Accepting or refusing is entirely in Tav’s hands, so be ready for the consequences of your actions. It’s not difficult to romance Wyll as he is easily impressed with kindness and heroism, so stick to these traits and the warlock will fall in love in no time.

Halsin

  • Gender: Male
  • Race: Wood Elf
  • Class: Bear Druid

Halsin is the bear Druid that some players may remember from the infamous bear scene that made a splash in the gaming community. Romancing him requires that players side with the Druids in the battle with the goblins, then he will join the player’s party later on in Act 2. He is a natural flirt with a lot of charisma, so he might be hard not to want to romance.

There is an important mission for Halsin in Act 2, and he needs to complete it before moving on. Accepting to aid him in his personal quest will have a big impact on the Shadow-Cursed Lands and will win you a loyal Druid to help in upcoming battles.

After a viral sneak peek of romancing Halsin in Baldur’s Gate 3, the Druid actually has a lot more to offer players than his bear form.

Minsc

  • Gender: Male
  • Race: Human
  • Class: Ranger

This rather simple-minded warrior-type has been a statue for the last century, and players can get him as a companion in the High Harper’s Quests in Act 3. However, he cannot be romanced. Tav can gain approval points with the ex-Stone Lord, but nothing romantic will come out of it.

As a returning character from Baldur’s Gate 2, Minsc focuses solely on helping you crush evil forces with the help of his fearsome hamster, Boo. He’s a fun character to have around and befriend and Minsc has some interesting dialogue.

Jaheira

  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Half-Elf
  • Class: Cat Druid

Jaheira is a returning character that can be found at the Last Light Inn. She is a cunning leader and one of the few companions that doesn’t have a tadpole inside their brains. Players will meet her in Act 2, and she can be added to Tav’s party during the Moonrise Tower takeover. Similar to Minsc, she cannot be romanced.

The leader of the Harpies is a formidable ally that offers many wise inputs in battles. She’s a no-nonsense companion that doesn’t believe in coddling. Jaheira is available as a companion upon defeating the final boss of Act 2.

Mizora

  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Infernal

Mizora is the Infernal who is holding Wyll’s leash and contract. She might be evil, but she is also willing to have one intimate night with the player’s character if they are willing to make Wyll furious.

To romance her, players will need to reach Act 3 with her alive, meaning saving her during Act 2. The Infernal promises to show players the layers of hell and introduce them to new kinds of pain and pleasure.

Emperor

  • Gender: Undefined
  • Race: Mind Flayer

The Emperor is an illithid that players will connect their brains with. It seems to have a slightly different take on the humanoid inhabitants of Faerun, including the player’s character.

If the two of them have a good relationship, they can have a very strange intimate scene, but you need to trust the Emperor fully to unlock it. Not to mention that he sends you to his old hideout to learn more about him, and players might come across some angry enemies blocking the way.

Sorn & Nym Orlith

Baldurs-Gate-3-Romance-Drow

  • Gender: Male & Female
  • Race: Drow

Players can also purchase a night with two Drow Courtesan workers; the avatar can have a night of passion with one of the two or can have a foursome with their romanced partner and the two Courtesan workers.

To get them for free, Tav can solve a murder mystery around one of their missing worker and the owner will offer the twin as a gift.

Harleep

The romantic flings in Baldur’s Gate 3 will all provide bonuses (and occasionally detriments) for engaging with them.

Naoise Nallinto

BG3-Naoise 2

  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Wood Elf

At Sharess’s Caress, players can speak with another Courtesan worker. Naoise Nallinto is found in the Nymph’s Grotto on the upper floor where she already has a client. Entering on them during the intimate conversation will anger the customer and reveal her true nature.

Instead of fearing her, the Nymph is dazzled by the beauty and asks for the players’ opinion. If you agree with her point of view and share your thoughts with her, Tav will have one intimate moment through the Tadpole with the Nymph, granting you a buff until the next long rest.

Can You Romance Multiple Characters in Baldur’s Gate 3?

The simple answer to this question is yes. There are several characters that don’t mind sharing Tav, but there are others that won’t be so willing to be polyamorous. Here are some companions that will be open to allowing Tav to have more than one partner:

  • Halsin
  • Karlach, though players can only romance her, they can choose to sleep with others.
  • Astarion
  • Shadowheart
