Final Fantasy 7 remake's Aerith actor doesn't want to be tagged in raunchy fan-fiction

Fan fiction is a great way to show your love for your favorite IP. Alternate, non-canon stories of our favorite characters help fill the void left by the lack of official material. However, there is another side to fan-fic that puts some of our favorite characters in… unorthodox positions.

There are a lot of funny pictures and videos of video game characters all over the internet, and most of them feature Overwatch or Final Fantasy 7 characters. We've already seen a spicy video of Final Fantasy 7's Tifa in the Italian Senate. However, the voice actors for these characters don't really want to see it, especially Areth actor Brianna White.

Reacting to K-Pop Demon Hunters' Rei Ami addressing some rabid fans of her character (thanks, GamesRadar+), White said, “Maybe we should make it a norm not to tag voice actors on their character's smut….. Some of you have forgotten the meaning of inappropriate.” It's fine when creating art, I think, tagging artists on it is definitely not okay.

Some fans were quick to point out to White that Ray Ami was more amused in the fan-fic than shocked or disappointed. White replied that she was not aware of this, but she made a more general point. “As someone said earlier, it's a matter of consensus,” he added.

“And it can be almost impossible to know what's actually acceptable or not by knowing a person by their social media persona.”

She later mentioned that she hasn't gone out of her way to find a spicy fan-fic of Aerith from Final Fantasy 7, but the algorithm still makes sure she comes “every day” because of her connection to the game.

White's point is that just because some actors are okay with interacting with this kind of material, doesn't mean others are. No one is stopping you from creating or enjoying it, just don't be in the face of actors who don't want to see it.
