If you've logged into Fortnite at any point in the last 48 hours, there's a good chance you've seen a bulked-up version of Ed from Ed, Edd n Eddy. That, or Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute from The Office, as they are the latest collaborations in the never-ending live-service battle royale.
However, as great as it is to see Dwight and his mustard yellow shirt team up with Goku and Butters, it's actually Ed who makes the most waves, especially when it comes to memes.
For example, here's Ed hitting a 6-7 emote:
For what it's worth, a 6–7 is exactly the kind of thing Eddie would be hitting if the show was still around.
Things don't stop there, either, as the “Bet Your Sweet Bippy” meme is probably the one everyone is having the most fun recreating.
So, there's a social media user who has gotten away with taking Ed's gameplay in Fortnite and combining it with the often weird and out-of-this-world sound effects from the TV show.
Regardless, they don't feel out of place in Fortnite.
If that wasn't fun enough, it turns out that the forces of peak Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network animation can now be combined. Specifically, pairing the ad with a SpongeBob SquarePants sidekick, something kids in the early 2000s might not have imagined.
If there was a negative side, then it is the fact that Ed is the only representative of his show in the game. However, fans have got some hope that this won't be the end for the Ed, Eddy n Eddy collab.
It's not Eddie, the Eddie Eddie collab without Eddie himself
As first shared on Twitter, the Ed outfit is believed to be part of the in-game “Ed, Ed n Ed set”. This has given die-hard fans hope to see Eddie or Double D at some point in the future.
Ed as the first character makes a lot of sense, as he is the most memorable of the three. But if neither Edd nor Eddy were planned, then it was felt that they should have been part of the initial bundle. Instead, Ed Plank is the single roster member with backbling and a Jawbreaker pickaxe.
Ultimately, only time will tell if other aids make their way into the game. If not, maybe as sidekicks? Anyway, long live the memes.
