Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 6 will not be released until May 2026, and its launch has now been pushed to November 19, 2026. If that news left you feeling down, GTA 5 can be claimed to be returning to PS Plus soon.
No confirmation yet, but the rumor is coming directly from Dealabs, which, when it comes to upcoming titles on PS Plus, is pretty much the same thing. Just hours after Rockstar dropped its GTA 6 bombshell, a leaker revealed that there are plans to put GTA 5 back on PS Plus Extra – meaning it will also be available to Premium subscribers before the end of November.
PlayStation doesn't tend to announce its monthly extras and premium additions until the end of the month, so we probably won't have confirmation that GTA 5 will be back on PS Plus until mid-next week. It then adds those new additions on the third Tuesday of each month, which means, if Dealabs is correct, those who don't own a copy of GTA 5 on PlayStation will be able to return from November 18 without having to buy one.
220 million copies of GTA 5 have been sold since its launch. Seriously, those of you who want to play this don't own it yet?
Rockstar adds GTA 5 to PS Plus every year, but it doesn't stay there for long
Putting GTA 5 on PS Plus could help appease some of those reeling by revealing that GTA 6 is still more than a year away. However, its return to the subscription service is likely unrelated to the delay. In fact, having GTA 5 on PS Plus has become quite an annual tradition.
If GTA 5 arrives on Extra this month, it will be the third year in a row that Rockstar has added the game to the PS Plus list in time for the holiday season. It was there in December 2023, and then again in November 2024. The problem is, GTA 5 only stays on PS Plus for six months at a time.
This means that if GTA 5 returns on November 18, it will likely leave the service in May. That would have perfectly aligned with GTA 6's earlier release date, which may have been part of the plan. Maybe that means GTA 5 has a chance to stay on PS Plus longer this time around, and that Rockstar gives more people a chance to play it to kill the time between now and GTA 6's launch, even if they don't own the game.
