GTA 6 source code has been reported out there and may be leaked

Despite Rockstar's tight security and mandate, we got a massive GTA 6 gameplay footage leak in September 2022. The leaker, Ariane Kurtz, was already on bail for hacking, and the breach saw him jailed in the UK. However, it looks like they have allegedly managed to smuggle in the phone and have just dropped another bombshell.

According to videotechuk_ (aka Ben), Kurtz claims that GTA 6's source code is allegedly in the wild but hasn't been leaked yet. If this is true, it means that one of the most highly anticipated games of all time is getting cheap knockoffs coming soon.

GTA 6 source code may be leaked soon

“Now it's slowly spreading: Arian Kurtz (notorious 2022 Grand Theft Auto VI leaker) allegedly smuggled a phone into a UK prison,” the tweet said. “While I won't be sharing screenshots of the WhatsApp chats (I'm sure they'll surface soon), Arian is surprised that Grand Theft Auto VI's source code wasn't leaked and seems to indicate that the source code could potentially be in someone's hands.”

There are many things to consider here. First, Kurtz allegedly transmitted this information via a smuggled phone from prison. This information is not exactly easy to verify. Next, while the WhatsApp messages from Kurtz suggest that someone has the GTA 6 source code, the screenshots are yet to be revealed. The recreated exchange shows the two users talking to the hacker, where he says the GTA 6 source code is “definitely out there somewhere”. He then asked if it had been leaked online and declined to comment after being told it had not.

Given the magnitude of the original leak, it's highly likely that the source code is in the hands of someone it shouldn't be. However, it is difficult to verify the facts as this story unfolds. Why hasn't the source code been leaked yet, if it is indeed leaked then there is a possibility that someone will pay a huge amount for it.

We'll keep an eye on this story and update it as it develops.
