GTA Online players are convinced that Rockstar has back-ported some features and content from Grand Theft Auto 6, including a strangely detailed towel that appears in a single cutscene.
Considering how long Rockstar has been working on GTA 6, it's surprising that it still has time to create so much new content for GTA Online. While the huge amount of money it still brings in is certainly a big part of the reason, that effort has been helped by some of the back-porting that Rockstar has been doing while working on the next big game.
For a while now, fans have seen some elements from GTA 6's trailers and screenshots ported over to GTA Online. From cars like the Gauntlet Interceptor (which appeared in the first GTA 6 trailer) to the necklace Cal wears, there's plenty of evidence that GTA Online is a testing ground for GTA 6's assets and features. Well, that apparently now extends to towels.
GTA Online looks to have even more content from GTA 6
It's not just a towel, either
Earlier this week, GTA Online received its biggest update in a while, giving players the chance to spend ridiculous amounts of money on mansions and reunite with Michael de Santa. The update also seems to bring some suspicious elements that look like they came from GTA 6.
What GTA 6's delay means for the games industry
The entire release calendar GTA 6 runs every time, so how does the latest delay affect everything?
Which brings us to the towel. In the cutscene where you meet Michael, Mr. Faber is seen wearing a towel to your house, which is more elaborate than it has any right to be. As pointed out by GTAVI_Countdown on Twitter, that towel looks the same as the one seen in a quick shot of GTA 6's second trailer.
It's an interesting observation that suggests Rockstar is using its resources from GTA 6 and making life a little easier in the process. The towel looks similar to the one in the GTA 6 trailer and, while it's literally just a towel, its distinctive shape is noticeable to anyone who's watched the GTA 6 trailer enough times.
It's me, I've watched the GTA 6 trailer enough times.
It's not just towels, though. GTAVI_Countdown also pointed out that the ability to add gyms and work in GTA Online could very well be back-ported from GTA 6, as well as the self-driving cars that are new in the update. Although there's a little less grounding in that theory since San Andreas first did, we've seen Jason at work in GTA 6 trailers and the mechanics are likely there.

When it comes to ports, there is one game that gives Skyrim a run for its money
Skyrim arrived on the Nintendo Switch 2 last week, and it's about to be followed by another video game legend.
