Here are the 5 best blue cards in MTG TMNT

While the new Magic: The Gathering While the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set looks strong overall so far, it looks like blue might be the weakest color when it comes to new additions. It's hardly a huge deal given the huge pool of Standard and Commander cards, but it could mean less movement in blue meta decks for now.

Regardless, we've picked out five of the best cards revealed so far, and all of them are capable of changing games in an instant.

Renate, Temporal Apprentice

mythical creatures

Renet, the Temporal Apprentice MTG card from TMNT.

We're starting our blue picks with Renate, Temporal Apprentice, a five-mana legendary creature with Flash, which allows you to cast it like an instant spell, not just during your first or second main phase.

While it's quite expensive for a blue creature, there's a good reason for it, as it returns all other non-land permanent cards to their owner's hand that were in play during the turn it was cast.

Flash creatures only suffer from the disease they summon on the turn they're cast, so if you cast it on your opponent's turn, you'll be able to attack it during your next combat phase.

While incredibly situational and requiring you to leave a lot of mana on the board when you pass the turn, which is sure to raise suspicion with your opponent, if you can pull this spell at the right time when your opponent has used up all of their mana, it can be completely frustrating, effectively making it so they may as well have left the turn.

The machine does

Mohawk class

Machines MTG cards from TMNT.

As with all other mana colors, we should include an Enchantment class card among the top cards of the TMNT set. While it's not the strongest of the lot, with that prize likely going to red or white, the Kay Mechanics Class Enchantment is still a great card to have in your deck.

When it enters play, you shuffle two cards, draw two cards, then discard two cards. The level two ability, which costs two mana, returns two artifacts from your graveyard to your hand.

Finally, the level three ability, which costs five mana, lets you put three +1/+1 counters on a target artifact you control. If it wasn't already a creature type, it becomes a 0/0 robot in addition to its other type.

While the wording is odd, a 0/0 robot creature immediately becomes a 3/3 when counters are applied.

3

Donatello, Gadget Master

mythical creatures

Donatello, the Gadget Master MTG card from TMNT.

Artifact and artifact manipulation is the name of the game with many blue TMNT cards, and Donatello, Gadget Master, is going to be important to this game plan, as is the card in the number one slot.

This is because Donatello, the Gadget Master, can create a token copy of a chosen artifact when the player takes damage.

The token created will duplicate the base token, meaning that if you try to copy a legendary artifact, you will either have to immediately destroy the token copy or destroy the original, as there can only be one on the board at any time.

Like most cards in this set that have the ability to activate from combat damage, a hidden cost is also included, making direct damage much easier.

Better yet, the hidden cost for Donatello, Gadget Master is only two mana, making it cheaper than its three mana hard cast. As a 3/2 creature with a fairly powerful ability, this Ninja Turtle will be a must-have card for artifact-heavy decks.

2

Techniques of the Kitsune

immediately

Kitsune's technique MTG card from TMNT.

A great card for milling decks like Dimir Mill, Kitsune's Technique is an instant card with sneak, where its casting cost is reduced to only a third of its hard casting cost.

Kitsune's technique goes from a six-mana spell to just a two-mana spell if you're willing to remember an unblocked attacker to cast it.

The wording on Kitsune's technique tells the target opponent mills, so you can't use it on its own to stack your graveyard.

This is one of the best and most extreme implementations of Sneak, but it essentially takes the card from possible inclusion to a milling deck, and maybe even three or four copies (in Standard).

1

Krang, Mastermind

Mythical artifact creature

Krang, the mastermind MTG card from TMNT.

Back to the artifact theme, we have a great blue card in MTG TMNT in the form of Krang, Mastermind. This eight-mana legendary artifact creature has an affinity for artifacts, meaning its casting cost is reduced by one for each artifact you control.

Then, when Krang enters play, if you have fewer than four cards in your hand, you can draw a difference.

For example, if you have a card in your hand when you cast Krang, Master Mind, you will draw three cards.

Finally, Krang, Mastermind gets a +1/0 for each artifact you control, meaning this 1/4 creature can step in as a very powerful threat, which can increase further for each artifact you cast.

When paired with cards like Donatello, Gadget Master, which we already know can create tokens of artifacts you control, Krang, Master Mind becomes a game-changing threat that needs to be dealt with, or your opponents are doomed.
