Updated on February 28, 2026 by Jessica Orr: Lucas is the final boss of the Not a Hero DLC for Resident Evil 7, and he's a very formidable opponent no matter what difficulty you play him on. There are a few tricks you need to implement in order to kill the baker's son for good. We've updated this page with more pictures and some extra tips to help you get rid of Lucas as quickly and easily as possible.
How to beat Lucas in Resident Evil 7 (Preparation)
Before the battle, you must advance through the halls to find a locked door that requires a power-up. Lucas can be seen through some glass windows working frantically on a computer. Go through the door to the left at the end of the hall to find a power switch. Back in the hall, Lucas will meet Chris and exit the room. Follow him through the locked door when this power up wears off.
The hallway behind the power-locked door will be protected by a turret. Quickly turn left and enter the room with Lucas first to find some incendiary grenades and a lock pick. You will also have the opportunity to save and use the item box one last time before the final battle with Lucas.
Once ready, head back down the hallway towards the turret. If you duck to the left on the curtain in front of the turret, a locker can be opened to find some shotgun shells. Zip through the turret and door at the end of the hall. After a short conversation, Lucas will attack Chris from behind and push him to the ground, causing Chris to shoot Lucas in the head. Lucas will then transform into a three-headed behemoth and the showdown will begin.
How to beat Lucas in Resident Evil 7 (Battle)
You'll have a few moments to start opening the many crates scattered around the room before the battle begins.Round the anti-regeneration (RAMROD) from the machine shelf in the middle of the room. This time should be used as efficiently as possible, as the mutated Lucas is incredibly aggressive and has a jumping lunge attack he can use to close the distance, making looting during combat very risky.
Once the fight is in full swing, you'll want to Focus fire on Lucas' head or a weak spot on his chest To deal maximum damage. Using RAMROD ammo will stun Lucas, exposing a red weak spot on his chest for follow-up damage with regular weapons (the shotgun is perfect here.)
About halfway through the fight, Lucas will retreat to the top of the machine in the center area (above right where the RAMROD ammo box is located) and start releasing spores into the room. Even with the upgraded respirator, Chris's oxygen level begins to drop. Lucas returns to his attacks, now more aggressive and able to jump over machines to attack.
Continue to damage and avoid Lucas while taking notice of the green flashing lights on the walls. These lights indicate oxygen stations that you can use to restore your breathing abilities when oxygen levels are critically low. Oxygen stations cannot be used while reloading or healing, and improper timing can give Lucas the opportunity to deal massive amounts of damage.
Stay out of reach and focus on Lucas' weak spot until he starts to wobble and melt. A final cutscene will begin and Chris will end Lucas and his sick game for good.
