Much of the game revolves around using Pokémon-inspired abilities to restore nature and interact with the terrain. How to Upgrade Water Gun in Pokemon Pokopia
The easiest way to strengthen the water gun is to eat soup. Food plays an important role in Pokopia as cooked food replenishes PP and temporarily increases Ditto's move power. These buffs allow players to complete tasks more efficiently or access areas that would otherwise take too much time to manage. If players want to take advantage of these benefits, however, they must first unlock the cooking system by meeting the main character named Chef Dante.
Chef Dante is naturally introduced as part of the main story once players reach the Rocky Ridges region. While exploring this area, players will encounter Chef Dante trapped inside a barrel. Freeing them triggers a short interaction that unlocks the game's cooking feature. After being rescued, Chef Dante explains how to prepare different meals using various cooking utensils and ingredients found around Pokopia. This moment marks an important progression point as it unlocks a wide range of food-based buffs that can make exploration and crafting much easier.
To start cooking the soup, players must first obtain a cooking pot. In some playthroughs, a recipe for a cooking pot may appear in the PC Shop, allowing players to craft it directly after having the ingredients. However, there is also a guaranteed cooking pot that can be found during exploration in the Rocky Ridges. Inside the cave where Magmar was first discovered, players can collect a yellow poke ball containing an item by cutting through the gate. Picking it up saves time and ensures that players can start cooking soup right away.
If players choose to make their own cooking pot instead, they will need two copper ingots. Creating these ingots requires some preparation. Players must gather copper ore and place it inside a smelting furnace. Once the furnace is loaded, Magmar, like Fire-type Pokemon, must light it to start the melting process. The furnace takes a while to produce the ingots, so it's a good idea to gather other cooking ingredients while you wait. The soup itself only requires a few simple ingredients. Once the cooking pot is ready, it must be placed on a heat source before it can be used. A stovetop or open flame will both work. After placing the ingredients in the pot and cooking the soup, Ditto can eat it to gain a temporary buff. When the effect activates, the PP for the water gun turns gold, indicating the move is powered up. At this time, the water gun covers a wider area, making it much easier to water crops and restore patches of land. Cooking therefore becomes a valuable strategy for accelerating environmental restoration efforts.
The buff lasts until the boosted PP is completely used, but players can eat more soup to restore the effect when needed.
Soup isn't the only food that boosts movement. Other foods provide buffs for different abilities. The bread boosts the move cut, while the hamburger steak reinforces the rock smash.
