Overwatch Over the last several months a few boxes have been ticking that haven't been filled in a long time. After appearing in Baptiste's lore, players spent years trying to make Mauga a playable hero, and while this wish eventually turned into a divisive character, it was still granted. recently, overwatch's big Season 1 relaunch brought two characters players have been clamoring to see introduced to the roster since the game's early days: Emre and Jetpack Cat. East A hello– Like Overwatch A hero with a promising story involving the series 'God AI', while the latter sounds like…exactly. And although a flying cat may sound strange, it may just be the tip of the iceberg.
I've always been one of many Jetpack Cat supporters; Maybe it's my love of cats in the real world, or my appreciation for the absurdity of the concept. But since Winston and Wrecking Ball have been playable for years, I always thought there was a possibility that Jetpack would join Cat. Overwatch roster. And now, she's finally here, and I couldn't be happier with the game's latest oddball character. Brigitte's lore is adorable, the fact that Jennifer Hale voices Fika is ridiculously good, and playing the hero is really fun because of the unmatched ability combos players can pull off using her bones. Sure, Jetpack Cat might be competitively Insta-banned right now, but she got a lot of eyes on Blizzard's big free-to-play game, so that's a win. And with the jetpack cat proving that oddball heroes are as popular as ever, I hope we finally see Mama Hong, the star of many, many memes, sooner rather than later.

Overwatch and Marvel Rivals both released some love-themed cosmetics for Valentine's Day, but which hero shooter did the holiday better?
Who is Mama Hong from Overwatch?
There is no official knowledge for Mama Hong, as she never left the conceptual stage for Project Titan (the defunct MMO that became it). Overwatch), but it's easy to imagine his story being worked through a new Chinese gang inspired by the Hashimoto Clan. In the only image we have of her, she's an older, overweight woman with hair curlers, and that alone helps her stand out from the existing roster. His appearance is naturally over the top, but that's part of what draws the community to his designs; Another old character in the vein of Ana feels overdue, and there are plenty of real people who look more like Mama Hong than Mercy, so a bit more representation would be welcome.
The pushback for Unran's face change is a good example of this Overwatch Players want a variety of appearances rather than straight “attractive” characters.

On top of Mama Hong's judgmental mother vibes, which will surely produce some stellar voice lines, her proposed ability “Manslaughter” adds interest to her character. It's a hilariously dark potential name for a colorist Overwatch universe, but it suits his mob boss vibe well. And yet Mama Hong was reportedly the second-most controversial character pitched for OverwatchShe loses to Wrecking Ball, a character who has been an official part of the game for years now. With that in mind, it's not out of the question for Blizzard to eventually open up ideas for Mama Hong and release her at some point.
What can Mama Hong also play in Overwatch?
Mama Hong will definitely be interested in becoming a reality, as he's regularly teased whenever a new hero is revealed. Overwatch Skin concept designers have created several costumes for her as well as potential abilities. An idea by ArtStation user Inkarat Mittongtare gives Mama Hong a flamethrower with a firework underbarrel. Another idea comes from Redditor JakeUbowski and can be seen above, and it's also complete with little animations that show how his abilities might work.
If this idea for Mama Hong was embraced by Team 4, her kit would give her the following abilities:
-
Mama Hong does some healing from nearby healed enemies.
-
Mama Hong uses a cleaver that can deflect after every three swings.
-
Mama Hong throws fish bombs that can reduce the amount of damage taken by enemies.
-
Mama Hong can cancel an enemy's ability use for a short time by yelling at them.
-
Mama Hong can mark enemies chosen for death (eg Marvel Rivals' Daredevil) using her ult, speeding up her movement and attacks to follow them, and if the enemy is killed she keeps her majority charge.
These are the only ideas for Mama Hong that could fit the concept of a fearsome old mob boss. Personally, I have always characterized him as someone who calls; Think how Ashe uses Bob, but make it part of her regular kit instead of the ultimate. Perhaps players could take control of these summoned gang members, essentially letting Mama Hong pilot her dirty doers. If she's melee-focused, she can compensate whoever she calls into combat, which gives her flexibility but leaves her body open to create a risk-reward gameplay loop. Whichever path is taken with Mama Hong, though, she's been a meme for so long that it would be amazing to see her follow in Jetpack Cat's footsteps.
If Mama Hong ever becomes a reality, 2027 could be the earliest it appears
Fans of Mama Hong shouldn't give up hope that she will one day arrive since the jetpack cat was recently added (and Hazard is directly from the old Titan concept), but they won't see her until at least 2027. The remaining five heroes of 2026 have been teased through silhouettes, and there are some promising concepts, along with other promising concepts. Coat, and fedora, nothing resembling Mama Hong could be seen. Hopefully, though, as long as the players keep pushing him for a debut, it will happen eventually. He may have just started OverwatchFrom home to home Kung Fu HustleBut she's taken on a life of her own thanks to years of jokes and some really creative hero concepts.
