Developer Respawn Entertainment and publisher EA have confirmed that the as-yet-untitled Star Wars Jedi 3 The game is in development, but there are no other concrete details. Recent rumors shared by a popular industry figure, however, have kickstarted the debate of sorts.
It is worth bearing in mind that the first game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen OrderWhen released in 2019 Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Released in 2023. Assuming the same four-year development period is used for the threequels, it's likely the third game will come out sometime in 2027. But recent rumors point to a release in the first half of 2026, which has divided the fanbase to a degree, among other claims.
New Star Wars Jedi 3 Rumors
Shared by renowned industry figure Idol Sloth, Star Wars Jedi 3 Will be released in the first half of 2026 (meaning about five months left for marketing and release). They go on to suggest that it will be less linear with galactic hubs for a “more immersive exploration experience”. Furthermore, it is said to be a darker, more mature story with the antagonists being a new faction with ties to the military but unrelated to the Empire. It has also been asked to expand the force capacity list from Star Wars Jedi: SurvivorAdding that combat is “heavier and more responsive”.
Why many fans don't believe these rumours
To wrap things up, Idle Sloth says the 2026 release is due to EA's format, the growth of Respawn's team, and feedback. JD: Survivor. And despite the initial release date of 2026, there is caution surrounding the title due to “fan expectations, corporate oversight, and EA's past issues with monetization.” The response to these rumors is very telling. And by and large, the fandom is divided around the claim of a more open world Star Wars Changes to experience, empire removal, and combat. Many would welcome a shorter marketing-to-release window, but they doubt that will be the case. This would allow Respawn, in theory, to put more resources into developing both Zero Company and Jedi 3. With Obsidian Entertainment releasing 3 in 2025 and Playground Games releasing 2 in 2026 it's not necessarily unheard of for the same studio to release multiple games in one year, but it's rare.
Overall, like all rumors, this one should be taken with a grain of salt. Maybe a whole container of salt. When asked by popular content creator Zorraptor for the source of Idol Sloth, he was met with silence from Twitter users. Stranger things have happened, but it seems the Force needs some serious alignment for these rumors to prove true.
