Kristen Bell will play Amy Rose in the next Sonic movie

It's official: Amy Rose will be played by Kristen Bell in Sonic the Hedgehog 4.

This was recently confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, after endless speculation in the Sonic community, the actor's confirmation of the Emmy. This also comes after Amy was teased for a lead role alongside Metal Sonic in the next Sonic film.

Bell, of course, is no stranger to voice acting. Having famously played Anna on Frozen, she's certainly a logical choice to play another upbeat, positive character, even if it's a stark contrast to what many are used to on Amy. Because of that, Amy's character has changed a lot in recent years, moving away from the Sonic-obsessed comic relief we've had in most games.

Judging from the teaser at the end of Sonic 3, this take on Amy will give her more to do. We see him playing with Metal Sonic with his hammer and saving Sonic, which is a stark contrast to how he was introduced in the games with Sonic CD being kidnapped by Metal Sonic. In fact, some think that the opposite will be taken even further, and that it will be Sonic who is bad for Amy.

In terms of the overall story, all clues point to Metal Sonic (and possibly Amy) coming from an alternate future in which Eggman is victorious. This could mean we have some Terminator shenanigans going on here, with Metal Sonic sent back in time to take out Sonic, and Amy going back to protect him.
