Marvel rivals Men Furious in the ongoing hero ban

Season 7 of Marvel Rivals began earlier this month, increasing the number of hero bans to three per team. This means that three to six characters are guaranteed to be banned in every competitive game, giving the community more freedom in the games they want to play – and encouraging one-tricks to take on more heroes.

However, the community has discovered that these restrictions do not extend to the list. Instead, many are instabanning certain strategist characters, getting rid of those they deem to be overpowered, too easy to play, or too annoying to ultimately work with. This has divided the playerbase, with some absolutely loving playing competitive games without worrying about invincibility, while support cores are feeling unfairly targeted and reluctant to role play.

Are Marvel Rivals players too harsh with their hero bans, or do the strategists need a rework?

As we can see throughout the community, many fans are loving the extra ban slot and using it to get rid of any tactician who pauses the game for ten seconds or more. Luna Snow is the worst for this, as it's incredibly hard to counter her ult while it's active and get any kills. However, Cloak and Dagger are also being targeted for their ult, as well as their survivability (the ease with which they can heal themselves and get out of danger).

Aside from that, we also see Gambit get banned for complaining that he's overpowered, and then Loki and Mantis thrown in there for good measure. Some say that the devs will ban them until the characters are rebalanced, but in the meantime, this means that many are struggling to play as their main.

Surprisingly, support players don't like it. Some are even refusing to play the rest of the strategists, especially when their own team has banned a character they indicated they wanted to play. This is a problem in any game with hero bans (looking at you, Overwatch community. Let me play Domina), but it's especially frustrating when your second, third, and fourth heroes are also banned.

At least, NetEase probably will something About that, if it doesn't always do what we want, it's clear that it keeps an eye on the playerbase. It was quick to act when the triple support meta was rampant, so hopefully, we'll reach some kind of resolution – although many will be upset if that solution is to go back to two bans per team.
