Monster Hunter Wilds hasn't quite lived up to its predecessor, and that's mainly due to performance issues. Players complained about texture popping and stuttering since launch, problems that persisted well into the year. As expected, it received impressive reviews and player counts on PC, which never reached global heights.
A series of performance updates has finally managed to bring the game up to a decent level. As part of the game's first anniversary celebration, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto confirmed that Monster Hunter Wilds will receive a major expansion with in-game events to celebrate the milestone.
Monster Hunter Wilds is expanding
“We are currently working on large-scale expansions like for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, and Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak, Monster Hunter Wilds,” said Tsujimoto. “We plan to share more information with you this summer.”
He also detailed the roadmap for the anniversary, which runs from February 18 to March 19. This will include rotating events, new cosmetics, limited-time quests, difficult monsters, and a free challenge quest featuring the ten-star quest difficulty Arc-Tempered Arcveld. Completing these ten-star quests will earn you Timeworn Charms, which improve your chances of obtaining rare talismans.
If you drop out of the game, Anniversary Celebrations will give you a chance to revisit past Festival of Accord events, which will run in rotation. There will also be a special collaboration event with Monster Hunter Stories 3.
Monster Hunter Wilds' reputation is so bad, a Japanese retailer is selling it for 11 cents
At 11 cents, it's truly a steal.
Speaking about the game's biggest issue, Tsujimoto said that the devs have been working to improve the game's performance and stability since Title Update 4. The latest update will include more improvements to further optimize the game.
In January, some fans discovered a strange reason for the game's poor performance. It seems that performance gets better with each DLC you buy. Thankfully, the devs acknowledged this, and included all the customization settings in the base game, just in time for the anniversary event.
