More Doppelganger threats loom on the horizon

The third and final season of the final set of battles is already stirring Fire Force. While strange Soul Eater As the moon rises and the world is engulfed in flames, the Fire Soldiers of Company 8 march forward in their duty even as they face their most powerful enemies. Fierce battles are the order of the day, except for the civilians being pulled out of the chaos, and that means battling each of the major cast members as Almos' doppelgangers. Everyone has an evil twin from Edola, and more recently, that includes Attack's own.

Notably, some members of the White-Door Cult now side with Shinra during the Great Cataclysm, and this is why the heroes stand any chance against such odds. Cultists have already unleashed a fearsome squad of doppelgangers into the world, with the invasion being just the first of many to step onto the battlefield. Episode 20 covered Tamaki Kotatsu's fight against a doppelgänger attack, so now it's time to face off against the most powerful doppelgängers — and the cultists who unleashed them in the first place.

The remaining Doppelgangers are ready to fight Company 8

Benimaru or Joker's doppelgangers could be next

As far as the big picture Fire ForceAs far as the final season is concerned, episode 20 only moved the story forward as Tamaki Kotatsu and Assault faced a doppelgänger attack on the city streets. That means the anticipation at the end of episode 20 is about the same as it was for episode 19, with the single biggest plot thread being an invasion of multiple doppelgangers modeled after powerhouse characters. Fire ForceThe main cast of It's the most effective cliffhanger for two episodes in a row as those doppelgangers promise to make for some stellar brawls as they mimic the ignition abilities of Kurono, Benimaru and more.

Of those original five doppelgangers, only Attack has been defeated, and even then, Tamaki needs a self-empowering glow and the support of an actual attack to claim victory. Now, despair is a major factor in the Great Apocalypse, along with its milder counterpart hope, meaning Company 8's morale and the villain's psychological warfare mean everything as the battle rages on. This is the reason Fire Force This phase of the plot feels very creepy, with Shinmon Benimaru threatening to cause extreme frustration in the heroes. The genuine article is near-obstructive, and his doppelganger holds nothing back.

Based on what Fire Force As fans saw in Tamaki and Attack's combined battle against the doppelgänger attack, these upcoming skirmishes will be more personal than ever. A few episodes ago, Knight King Arthur Boyle saved Vulcan and Lisa at the last second on Amaterasu when he used a precision blade thrust to kill the tiny Giovanni bug inside Yu's head once and for all. That was an important victory in finally getting the grotesque villain Giovanni out of the picture for good, but it also felt weak and had only a moderate impact on the story. It's not uncommon for shonen heroes to return to the scene, stronger than ever, to defeat opponents and save lives. Arthur did just that, but the self-proclaimed king of knights needs a much bigger challenge – and he's probably about to get it.

Based on the last few scenes in episode 20, showing Arthur looking more serious than ever as he surveys the carnage around him, Shinra's onion-headed rival is about to become a hero worthy of legend. This character is due another chance to really shine after making a brand new sword, and what's more, the next episode is titled “Dragon and Knight Surge Toward the Heavens”.

Arthur is undoubtedly the knight referred to in that title, and there is indeed a member of the white-cloaked cult known as the Dragons. The dragon emerges as one of the most powerful, most prominent cultists of all time, the perfect foe to ever test Arthur with his coat of hard scales. It might not be one of the anticipated doppelgänger fights, but such a showdown could be a great way to top the fight. Fire Force Fans recently saw between Tamaki and Adola's own attack.
