NetherRealm, the studio behind Mortal Kombat and Injustice, is cooking something up, and they're asking QA testers to help shape whatever it is. That QA tester can be you, provided you meet the eligibility requirements, which include living in or near Chicago.
As first spotted on the Mortal Kombat subreddit, NetherRealm, via a LinkedIn callout, is hiring some QA testers for the upcoming AAA game. Unfortunately, the job description available on the Warner Bros. Discovery Careers website is pretty light on details about what that might entail.
“Knowledge of video games on multiple game consoles (Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony) or PC,” is one of the listed requirements, which should come as no surprise given the hardware available for past titles, including Mortal Kombat 1. Otherwise, this is a pretty standard job listing.

Still, that the development title is at the point of QA testing should be a good sign for those waiting for the next major title from Netherrealm. Even with its post-launch expansion and numerous DLC offerings, MK1 released in 2023, so it's been a while.
It's been a long time since we had a new injustice
However, for as long as it has been since MK1, it became even longer after Injustice 2. Believe it or not, we're approaching a decade since the original Injustice: Gods Among Us sequel was released.
It's a good thing, then, that several significant rumors surrounding NetherRealm's upcoming title point to the return of DC superheroes and villains battling each other.
As recently as May 2025, it was reported by a MultiVersus leaker that NetherRealm is going back to the Injustice franchise. Normally, that rumor would be ignored, but they had a lot of information about the inner workings of WB.
That specific bit of information follows a previous report that NetherRealm's next title will prominently feature a story mode. Of course, recent Mortal Kombat entries have also featured story mode prominently, but Injustice feels best suited for a big budget mode.
Either way, with Summer Game Fest right around the corner, there might be an announcement lurking.
