A LinkedIn profile of a former senior writer at Sony Santa Monica reveals that the studio is currently building a “new franchise” in the God of War universe.
There has clearly never been a more exciting time to be a God of War fan. Not only are all the games still as revered as ever, but the series has a very strong future ahead, thanks to confirmation that the classic trilogy will receive a remake from Sony Santa Monica in the future. If that wasn't enough, there's also a studio other Another game to consider.
There was a time when we all thought Cory Barlog's next game would be space-themed, it's been widely reported that he's actually working on a new God of War game. Although some report that it's another Kratos game that could take him to Egypt (even though Mischief's game sounds pretty cool), that might not actually be the case after all.

As pointed out by ResetEra user nolifebr and originally discovered by St. Elmo's Fire , former Sony Santa Monica senior writer Lauren Signorino's LinkedIn profile has given us our most concrete idea yet of what the studio's mysterious next game is – “a new franchise in God of War”.
I can understand remaking the original God of War, but the entire trilogy feels like overkill
Sony Santa Monica has confirmed that it will remake the three legendary God of War titles.
Signorino's profile appears to have been deleted or made private after this search was made, but screenshots of it are floating around.
This suggests that the next game in the series may not star Kratos or Atreus after all, and will instead focus on a new character and possibly a new area. When part of me wants To back up the idea of this being a Loki-centric game, Bluepoint's canceled God of War live-service title starred Atreus, which makes me think it's something else entirely.
Interestingly, Signorino's mention of a new franchise backs up what Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier said about the game feeling like a new IP, but not really one. If the next God of War stars another character or changes things up a lot, it definitely will feel Like a different kind of God of War game even though it's in the same universe.
We'll have to wait and see when Sony Santa Monica reveals the game (which could be this summer), but it looks like PlayStation has some pretty big plans for the franchise as a whole, even if Kratos isn't necessarily a part of them.
