So much time has passed Animal Crossing: New Horizons It received a big 2.0 update, and any minor updates that were released after that only addressed bugs and performance issues, so everyone naturally assumed the game was over. but, Animal Crossing: New Horizons Both the Switch 2 version and a massive 3.0 update shocked fans by announcing it completely out of the blue. While the Switch 2 version of the game features higher resolution, 12-player multiplayer, Joy-Con mouse controls, and megaphone objects for the player to call NPCs, it's the 3.0 update that's gotten the most attention.
Focus on Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Everything that the 3.0 update adds to the game can be understood. The main attraction is the family-run hotel of Kapp'n, which allows players to attract new villagers to their island who will stay in the hotel's rooms. Mr Resetti takes on a bigger role, as players can use him to clear flowers and custom designs from specific areas of their island, while new collaborations with LEGO, Zeldaand Splatoon are on the way. Slumber Islands is another big addition, as players get 3 additional islands to decorate with their friends however they see fit. Yet for all these neat additions, it's a simple quality-of-life mechanic – multi-craft – that really steals the show.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons 'craft multiple' mechanic 5 years overdue
With every single update Animal Crossing: New HorizonsFans were hoping that Nintendo would introduce an option to create multiple copies of an item. However with each patch that was released, it was more absent despite being a staple of other relaxing games. Hello Kitty: Island Adventure, ran awayand much more. Update 2.0 felt like the last chance for Nintendo to grant this wish, and sadly, it didn't seem like it left this simple quality-of-life mechanic as a “what if” scenario. Fortunately, Update 3.0 is finally addressing this omission, as players will be able to choose the number of each item they want to craft when the update arrives on January 15, 2026.
While this may seem like such a small quality-of-life request that it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, the reality is that crafting items one by one was incredibly tedious. Players do a lot of crafting Animal Crossing: New HorizonsAnd there are some items that players need to craft in bulk. The biggest example of this is fishing bait Animal Crossing: New HorizonsBecause players need hundreds of pieces to catch each fish. In fact, crafting piecemeal fodder proved so tedious that a market for the material emerged on trading platform Nookazon. Because collecting bait and crafting takes so much time, players who don't want to go through the process themselves will trade large amounts of Bells and Nook Mile tickets for a full batch of bats. Fortunately, bruised fingers from craft button spamming will soon be a thing of the past.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons' big additions have weaknesses multi-craft doesn't
While QoL additions are inherently great for every player, the same cannot be said for other types of content. For example, there is Animal Crossing: New Horizons'The next hotel. While the idea of the hotel is fun and all, the most dedicated fans of the series will probably have a “been there, done that” feeling from seeing more. After all, decorating themed rooms to inspire villagers to come and stay is basically like the Happy Home Paradise DLC. For anyone who's sunk hours into that expansion, one of the main attractions of Update 3.0 is essentially a free version of something they've already paid for.
Slumber Islands is similarly bittersweet. While they are undoubtedly a nice feature, many players may be viewing them through the lens of regret. After all, almost four years passed between Update 2.0 and Update 3.0. With this in mind, many players crave more Animal Crossing Probably bit the bullet and restarted their islands, to decorate their hard work with a new place and new goals to pursue. If Slumber Islands had been added a few years ago, these unlucky players wouldn't be in such a disastrous position. To be clear, Slumber Island and Hotel are both exciting additions, as the former is finally a way to design islands with friends and the latter is a better option for those who haven't purchased Happy Home Paradise. That said, multi-craft takes the cake as the true star of this update, as it's impossible to complain about a feature fans have wanted since the game launched.
