If there's one thing PlayStation fans love, it's a nice Platinum Trophy. However, not every platinum is created equal, and some are easier than others, while some are not platinum, making the challenge of trophy hunting even more fun.
It's also why community-driven leaderboards have worked to prevent shovelware titles from being counted out of overall metrics, and why players often rail against AI slop titles, even if their developers think they're doing nothing wrong.
While many consider FromSoftware titles to be the hardest platinum to get, they're only too often right. Indeed, some of the hardest trophies around often include multiplayer requirements, and those games are doubly bad when the servers are barren or difficult.
After Ninja Gaiden 2, we need a remake of Ninja Gaiden Black
Ninja Gaiden Black still holds up, but it could benefit greatly from a few minor tweaks and a fresh new look.
Team Ninja's PlayStation Vita port of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 has a similar situation. However, a proud trophy hunter, Tqvry, can now say they killed the beast. Literally.
If you're able to get the impossible platinum, you deserve a special icon or something
As first spotted by Push Square , Tqvry can now say he's the only person with Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 on Vita. Platinum requires a player to “successfully complete all missions on Turbo difficulty.”
Generally, that would be very easy for an experienced Ninja Gaiden player. But where things get difficult is with the co-op trophies, and the fact that the servers no longer exist. So, instead, you're paired with an AI friend, and calling the AI friend useless might actually be a compliment.
It also doesn't help that, as Push Square noted, beyond dealing with PS Vita chugs and braindead AI, you're also fighting the system's strengths.
Never mind, Tqvry made it happen, and they have an entire livestream to prove it. Considering how long the game has been around, and how hard platinum is, they might be able to claim they're the only ones who can do it. That said, one might be tempted to challenge for the crown, but just one look at the livestream, and it's proof enough to stay away.
“Absolutely huge congrats on this, without a doubt the hardest legal platinum on PSN,” wrote one user in response.
If you're feeling particularly adventurous, Ninja Gaiden 2 got the Black treatment last year, and it also has Platinum. A more modest 652 players got that.
