Overwatch players think jetpack cats need to be discouraged

Overwatch is giving it a boost thanks to a rebranding and five new characters. Not only did it surpass its Marvel rivals in terms of player count, it more than doubled its own record. The game was in dire need of a shakeup, and Blizzard managed to pull it off at the right time when its Marvel rivals were going through a rough patch.

While the five new characters include one tank, two damage, and two support heroes, there are no prizes for guessing which of them caught the eye the most. Aptly named, of course, Jetpack Cat became a favorite as soon as he was revealed. However, these players think that he needs to be a little bit different.

Jetpack cat is flying very high

The jetpack cat is floating in Overwatch.

As PC Gamer noticed, the Overwatch subreddit is full of players discussing how Jetpack Cat could do with some nerfs. Especially her Lifeline ability, which allows her to literally airlift other characters. Fighting a damaged hero isn't easy when they can move like a cat thanks.

“Cats will make the game unplayable at lower levels,” said one comment. “When you're in a range where people can't aim for crap, a fast, flying character with omni-directional movement will be borderline invincible.” Meanwhile, others are asking for a straight up nerf.

“I can go into a game telling myself to search for cats and still miss the prompt,” said another. “I wish it was a little more clear. I don't want it to take over the screen but can I put the text a little higher?”

Take to the skies with Jetpack Cat!

It seems that those who have a jetpack cat on their team are having an absolute blast, but those who go against it are hoping for nerfs. Of course, all five characters are still relatively new, so the devs are probably going to make some balance changes over the next few weeks. Until then, just hope the flying kitty ends up on your team.
