Overwatch's NieR Automata Collab offers a lot of hits and a huge miss

Overwatch There's been no shortage of collaborations in recent months, even doubling down on its crossovers with its big Season 1 relaunch. After a Sanrio collab got the ball rolling earlier in the season (and gave Lucio Men a hilariously spammable Keroppi voice line), midseason gave gamers a NieR Automata While the price point of these modes is debatable – many point to the fact that collaboration is the real game NieR: Automata Available for half the price of a full crossover bundle — their true quality is undeniable. Being able to fly around in a pod via the Mercy Movement emote is also great, while the pod that follows with 2B Kiriko is always a terrific touch.

6900 Coins include everything outside of the bundle, 2800 Overwatch Coins are required for individual hero bundles, though NieR Skins can also be purchased standalone through the Hero Gallery for 1900 coins each.

The skins featured in this collaboration manage to hit all the fan favorites, as well as the Commander White skin for the game's resident skin-seller Mercy. Vendetta is A2, with Emil's face bearing a clean buster sword near the hilt. Kiriko and Wuyang are 2B and 9S, boasting their signature eye coverings, the 2B skin looks particularly good in first person thanks to the feathers on Kiriko's arms. Lifeweaver rounds out the companion skins with its ADAM outfit, ensuring that the most popular Androids are fully represented. Overwatch. But while all of these skins are undoubtedly well done, it's hard to miss the elephant in the room: Omnics got no love, despite the story. NieR: Automata All about machines.

The premise of NieR: Automata practically demands an omnic skin

A super cute look for Bastion or Ramattra was really a collab tied together and taken full advantage of. NieR IP instead of only being respected on Androids.

OverwatchThe diverse lineup of omnic heroes – Orisa, Echo, Ramtra, Zenyatta, and Bastion – would have been natural candidates for cosmetics based on the machines, which are fascinating antagonists fighting as part of 2B and 9S. Automatathe story of Among the options here, the two that stand out the most are Ramratra and Boston. Considering how none of these heroes have mythic skins, and haven't gotten much love on the ally front transformerIt would have been nice to see them get one of the following outfits.

For Bastion, a skin based on the adorable, peace-loving NPC Pascal would have been awesome. Personality-wise, he's a fantastic fit for Bastion, as a damage hero that can wreak havoc with his turret form, he's sweet when he's not forced into a fight. Appearance-wise, not much has to change from Pascal's default, steampunk look, as it's a fairly natural fit for Bastion's base form. For the turret mode, just dropping Pascal's signature glowing eyes somewhere on the model will keep the design intact. The only question is what Bastion's bird Ganymede will look like – some sort of machine, perhaps, as Pascal suggests Bastion's love of nature means some sort of real bird would be viable.

For Ramattra, one of the adorable Stubbies would be a perfect fit. Specifically, the form-shifting medium-quadruped, which takes advantage of Ramtra's signature mechanic. The dome-shaped head will be fascinating to look inside Overwatch's art style, and although some liberties will have to be taken to come up with a design for good staff, one NieR-inspired look probably wouldn't have been too hard for Blizzard to think of. It is unclear why there were no machine skins in this collab, especially one that represented a minor character like Commander White. Even with this missed opportunity, Overwatch's NieR collab is a win

While it would have been nice to see some Machine Love when it comes to skins (and maybe an event mode or special challenges to spice up the crossover), what's there is still pretty good. Vendetta's A2 skin is so good that some players will consider learning a melee hero just to use it, while Mercy's deep cut cosmetic looks good even if one has no attachment. NieR. An earnable Emile Charm is a fun bonus reward to pursue, as well as being offered as a Morgana Charm. OverwatchPersona 5 skins. Ultimately, though, it would have been really cool to see OverwatchOmnic is doing something NieR In their own cosplay, players have plenty to appreciate about the content they actually get.
