The gaming space is as competitive as ever with the likes of Nintendo, Xbox, and PlayStation all vying for your loyalty with console exclusives and new features. All the while, PC continues to provide the most customizable experience. So, to which gaming platform do ranters pledge their allegiance?

The results are in, and it's not even close! The PC has been declared the most popular gaming platform by Game Rant readers without emerging with dominance. Clair Obscur All the way back to 2025! For consoles, it was closer than you think!

  • PlayStation – 15% / 398 votes

  • Other — 8% / 222 votes

  • Xbox – 8% / 216 votes

  • Nintendo — 6% / 169 votes

The message is abundantly clear – Game Rant readers are PC gamers! While the battle between consoles was a hot one, PCs continued to dominate in our latest survey, with over 60% of voters planning to play their games on laptops and PCs this year. It's not surprising, given the accessibility PCs offer in terms of customized builds and bypassing the majority of console feature restrictions, but it's surprising how well-liked the platform is.

Among consoles, Sony reigns supreme, with nearly 400 gamers choosing to use a PlayStation system to partake in their favorite past-time in 2026. This, interestingly, is closely followed by “Other”, which can encompass VR systems, handheld consoles (Nitchming/switch2Stointro-switchming). Great to see gamers still opting for variety!

Perhaps the biggest surprise, and somewhat disappointing result, is the low numbers for Nintendo players. Given that Nintendo is the most recent console provider to release a new product, it's surprising to see such a small representation for Switch and Switch 2 players. The Switch 2 got off to a somewhat shaky start in 2025, so Nintendo will hope to turn things around with some big releases in 2026.
