Although many don't notice it, this connection makes the glove pad resemble the Japanese kanji character for fire.
Unfortunately, during the video trailer, fans don't get to see the underside of Pombon's legs, so all they can be left with is concept art. However, the clever little details made it charming Pokemon fandom, which already seems to be generally taken with the new fire-type starter. Fans have said that the Paw Pad Easter Egg is adorable, while the description has some Pokemon trainers imagining tracking down the elusive Pokemon by their footprints. However, some players have taken the opportunity to assume that the presence of a kanji on a dog's leg does not necessarily mean that it will be bipedal to show later expansion, as most do. Pokemon Fans were disappointed when the quadrupedal Pokémon evolved to become bipedal and more humanoid.
Longtime fans of the series familiar with Japanese may recall that this is not the first time Kanji characters have been used in the franchise. One of the earliest examples was the Fire Blast attack, which when used appeared as the kanji for “big”, which is part of the attack's Japanese name.
