Following several rumors over the last couple of weeks, Sony has finally confirmed something new PlayStation State of the Game arrives this week and will focus primarily on news from first-party studios. In terms of first-party games, 2026 remains open to PlayStation fans, just like games Saros, MLB: Show 26and also MarathonBungie is locked in for early 2026 launches, considering it's owned by Sony. Fans are eager to know what Sony has coming up, especially in the back half of the year.

Insider NateTheHate responded to a fan on social media asking if the match could happen in February, to which Nate confirmed that this would be the case. Sony State of Play February 2026 Date and Time

In a new blog post, Sony Interactive Entertainment's Tim Turi confirmed that the next PlayStation State of Play is launching in a few days on Thursday, 12th, 2026. Unlike its predecessor, State of Play, which focused on Japanese studios, this one focuses on highlighting “eye-popping”, while also bringing third-party titles to the PS5. The latest news about what the PlayStation Studio teams are working on. The show will run for over 60 minutes, so there should be plenty of announcements and news to share.
Comments on social media posts indicate that fans are excited about the showcase being over an hour long and the presence of first party announcements. While Sony hasn't teased or confirmed any of the games that will be there, it's fair to say they could have used the time to highlight them. Marathon and Saros Again with their release dates quickly approaching, and both games are expected to help drive revenue in early 2026. There is also some debate that Insomniac. Wolverine will make an appearance, the game is expected to launch later in the year, although the developer has previously indicated that more news will be shared in the spring.

Another potential revelation could come from this Marvel Token: Fighting SoulsArc System Works has developed the fighter which is currently set for a 2026 release date. Perhaps Sony and Arcsys can reveal new content in the game such as characters and stages. There is also a possibility that Naughty Dog uses the show to showcase another trailer for its anticipated upcoming game, Intergalactic: Heretic Prophet.
Regardless of the upcoming game's status, Sony hasn't been shy about revealing new games outside of this popular format. Seemingly out of the blue, Guerrilla Games revealed its multiplayer-centric horizon the game Horizon Hunter Gathering Looks early in development, but the game focuses more on 3-player cooperative gameplay with a colorful and stylized visual style. Despite the gameplay and graphical differences between the mainline games, Guerrilla confirmed that the story and characters are “completely canon” in the wider Horizon universe.
