Everything in the StarRupture Early Access Roadmap

Starter Early Access Roadmap

Currently, developer Creepy Jar has broken down what is expected to arrive during the game's Early Access period into four distinct segments:

  • Ongoing improvements

  • features

  • material

  • Quality of life

At the time of writing, nothing mentioned in the roadmap has a date or version number attached to it. As such, it is currently unclear which will arrive first and how long players will have to wait for the first drop. Anyway, here's what's covered in each section.

Ongoing improvements

While StarRupture While currently very stable and many of its mechanics and systems work well, developer Creepy Jar still feels there is room for improvement in the following areas as they work towards the 1.0 release.

  • Game performance

  • Construction Mechanics

  • Combat mechanics

  • the world

  • UI/UX

For the most part, it is clear what improvements might look like in some of these areas. Minor tweaks to systems, menus, or balance control all fall under this. What remains a bit unclear is the continued improvement we might see in the world. This could be related to a world with more hidden secrets, such as a cave system or dead bodies, or it could simply mean an improvement in the visual fidelity of Arcadia-7.

features

These are the features that Creepy Jar wants to add during the early access period, including some of the most hotly-requested ones from the fanbase so far, including controller support, custom game mode options with adjustable difficulty, and new crafting features and combat mechanics.

  • wildlife

  • Custom game mode option (with adjustable difficulty)

  • A new way to travel on the map between bases

  • codex (encyclopedia)

  • Controller support

  • New building features

  • New combat mechanics

  • New exploration mechanics

While there is currently no word on a focus of Steam Deck compatibility StarRupture Early access roadmap, it may come as part of controller support. Creepy Jar's previous game, Green Hell, has been confirmed for a Steam deck, so it looks like it will be coming at some point in the future.

material

When it comes to the content announced in the Early Access roadmap, it's all pretty straightforward. It can be distilled to 'the addition of everything that is already there'. This should give players who completed everything in this initial release a reason to return when future updates drop.

  • Expanded map

  • Additional corporation levels and rewards

  • A new weapon

  • New resources

  • New buildings

  • New forgotten engine

  • New locations and points of interest

  • Additional story elements

Quality of life

Finally, there are quality of life changes outlined in the Early Access roadmap to help improve the overall playability of the game for all players.

  • Cargo Dispatcher/Receiver Rework

  • Co-op game balance

  • Accessibility options (improved keybindings)

  • Accessibility options (subtitle options, adjustable text size)

  • Dedicated servers

What's coming in the 1.0 release of StarRupture?

As part of the early access roadmap, Creepy Jar also hinted at some major additions coming as part of the 1.0 version.

  • cold wave

  • A new biome

  • End the game

  • More story elements

  • Achievements

The Frost Wave is the most interesting, suggesting that along with the standard heat wave from the cold that players currently experience in the game, we could also see a cold option coming. For now, we'll have to wait and see how it all plays out.
