Black Clover Anime is one of the biggest anime of 2026
Earlier in 2025, it was confirmed that the Black Clover anime will return for its fifth season. Although there was no mention of a release date, fans were satisfied with the fact that their favorite anime series will return at some point in the future. After months of waiting, it has now been revealed The Black Clover anime will return in 2026. Once again, the anime hasn't shared many details about the project, but at least now fans have no reason to worry.
Information regarding the release date was shared during Jump Festa 2026, and it was accompanied by a new key visual and teaser trailer. Asta, Yuno, Yami Sukehiro and Nacht Faust are featured in the teaser, as these characters will be the focus. Audiences can expect to see more of the quartet in action than the rest of the cast.
Black Clover is one of the best Studio Pierrot projects
Moving on to production, it has been confirmed that the Black Clover anime will be handled by Studio Pierrot. Although the studio's record isn't entirely flawless, it has really knocked the ball out of the park with its last few projects. So, Black Clover Season 5 has a good chance of being the best yet.

When it comes to the release date, fans can expect the fifth season of Black Clover to be released after the premiere of Blach: The Thousand Year Blood War arc. Therefore, the new season will be released as part of either the Summer 2026 lineup or the Fall 2026 lineup. It doesn't make sense for a studio to release two big projects in the same month, though it's not entirely impossible either.

Studio Pierrot hasn't shared any details about the length of the new season, but considering the anime is coming back after a five-year absence, it shouldn't be short. Fans have been waiting almost half a decade to see Asta and the rest of the characters back in action, so giving them only 10-12 episodes would be grossly unfair. Hopefully, Studio Pierrot has planned at least 24-26 episodes for the fifth season. If the studio is worried about a time crunch, it can split it into two courses, and release both within the same year.
Studio Pierrot needs to stick with the current pacing
Studio Pierrot needs to maintain the pacing for the Black Clover anime that it has set. The pacing was pretty problematic at the start of the series. The anime adapted one chapter per episode and sometimes a few extra pages from another chapter. However, in the current era, the momentum feels weak. In fact, all the big-name anime stuck to adapting multiple chapters per episode. So, Studio Pierrot needs to stick with it and cover more chapters in an episode. Of course, it shouldn't rush through the chapters but rather adapt enough so that the pacing doesn't seem off.
The future of Boruto Anime is in jeopardy
As already stated, the Boruto anime has always been polarizing. Avid fans tried to like it, but after months of filler material, they too had to give up. The main problem with the adaptation was that there was never enough content for the anime to be released weekly. The Boruto manga is monthly, so it releases 12 chapters throughout the year. On the other hand, the anime was weekly, meaning it was releasing 40 episodes (factoring in any breaks, otherwise the count would be 52). So, it's clear as day why the Boruto anime was set up for failure. Hopefully, if the anime returns in the coming years, it will be seasonal instead of weekly.
