Last month, Fallout fans discovered a mysterious countdown in the Prime Video archive for behind-the-scenes archive footage (we warned you). However, they lost it. Many were expecting a bombshell announcement for the Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters, not a recreation of the Lucky 38 penthouse suite from the series. But that doesn't mean all hope is lost, it just means everyone is betting wrong.
According to a recent issue of The Verge of Notepad, the Fallout 3 remaster — which was first leaked via an internal roadmap by the FTC during Microsoft's purchase of Activision Blizzard King — is still in “active development.” Bethesda is reportedly “keen to make sure it's as well-polished” as Oblivion Remastered, which was just overshadowed last April, so it's no surprise that insiders are insisting it's not ready yet.
Rumors Fallout: New Vegas Remaster will reportedly launch after Fallout 3
There's no word on the rumored Fallout: New Vegas remaster in Verge's report, however. It was first leaked by Windows Central editor Jez Corden earlier this year, and he noted at the time that the remasters “aren't exactly 'imminent' and you shouldn't expect them anytime soon,” debunking the countdown as well. In fact, he claimed that a Fallout 3 remaster is expected before New Vegas, not at the same time, many believed the countdown was leading.
Fallout 3 Remastered doesn't seem to match the show, either, as Season 3 is primed to stay on the West Coast, with the NCR and Legion warring in New Vegas, while the Ghoul ventures to Colorado for a timely replay of the strategy. Given the differences between game development and TV production, it was always impossible to line up two projects of such different scopes.
Meanwhile, Fallout 4 has long arrived on the Nintendo Switch 2, though it's looking a little worse for wear, despite the exuberant $60 price tag.
