Combat encounters in Baldur's Gate 3 don't always go your way. For example, encounters against Raphael, Loroakan, and Netherbrain are difficult, but can be overcome with strategy and knowledge of game mechanics. Then there's the battle to save Isobel at The Last Light Inn, where everything works against you, including Isobel herself.
The problem with this fight is that it's an attack in what you think is safe, and you're probably down a few spell slots and HP after trudging through shadow-cursed lands. If that's not bad enough, Isobel's AI has no survival instincts, and walks right into danger. Although this has been a frustration for every new player since the beginning of the game, what is even more annoying is that he has the right tool to deal with the situation, but doesn't use it.
As if the battle at Last Light In wasn't depressing enough…
Marcus appears out of nowhere and follows Isobel like some kind of fictional terminator, but he has winged horrors that can paralyze him and prevent him from getting away. On top of everything else, his AI puts him in danger, so there are a few things you have to juggle to keep him safe.
However, as pointed out by shlevon on Reddit, Isobel has the means to make this encounter much easier, but chooses not to use it. Jhannyl's Gloves, “allow the wearer to regenerate less on himself after being blinded, paralyzed, or poisoned.” They can be extracted from Isobel's corpse, if she is killed.
So, why wasn't Isobel wearing the one item that could have made the whole encounter so much easier in the first place? This is something you should ask Isobel yourself! Aside from being an absolute nuisance by putting herself in danger, she didn't equip the one item that kept Marcus and Wings relatively safe from the horrors.
To make things worse, one of the comments pointed out that if she's kidnapped and tadpoleed, she'll use Jenil's gloves when fighting you. Thank you very much, Isobel.
