If Sunday felt like a whirlwind of gaming news, you're not alone. With Microsoft's internal decision to delay Fable, which could push the title to 2027 if push comes to shove, with word that motion capture work on Hideo Kojima's Physint will begin soon, things are busy.
Here's one more great bit of information: Another mainline God of War title was set to be announced at some point this month.
In a new episode of Insider Gaming's weekly podcast, trusted insider Tom Henderson revealed that he had heard that the next mainline God of War would be “announced soon and in April.”
The information comes as the Insider Gaming team discusses rumors of PlayStation State of Play, and whether that presentation will focus on third-party games, or if it will also include first-party offerings, which God of War will fit into, as well as Marvel's Wolverine, which is being held by Insomniac Games.
Keep in mind, this is separate from another God of War title, Metroidvania, Sons of Sparta, which was revealed earlier this year and was overshadowed, or a remake of the trilogy.
I can understand remaking the original God of War, but the entire trilogy feels like overkill
Sony Santa Monica has confirmed that it will remake the three legendary God of War titles.
Instead, it's the long-rumored Corey Barlog developed title that has been heavily rumored.
This next God of War title will be very different from the previous entries
A month ago, reliable insider NateTheHate revealed that the next War of Legends title would not focus on Kratos or Atreus but instead on Faye, Kratos' wife and Atreus' mother. It's reportedly targeting a release in the first half of 2027, and at the time, NateTheHate reported that it would be revealed at some point this year.
Things didn't end there, however, as another insider, Special Nick, provided some details on the gameplay itself, revealing that the game's action will be more in line with the Devil May Cry titles rather than the action RPG focus of the last two Gods of War games.
It seems that we have now reached the point where the game is ready for the reveal, although whether it will happen this month or later is still up in the air, depending on what kind of state the game will eventually have, if there is one.
